Bronwyn’s death leaves Arondir grieving, guilty and bound to a promise: protect her son, Theo. In Season 2, actor Ismael Cruz Córdova describes those pressures pulling Arondir toward revenge against Adar—and threatening to make him reckless.
Bronwyn’s death changes the stakes for Arondir
Bronwyn dies from her wounds before the main Season 2 story catches up with Arondir and Theo. Her absence is not just a personal loss: it leaves Arondir carrying a promise to keep Theo safe while trying to make decisions in a crisis. Córdova told io9/Gizmodo that her death “complicates everything tenfold” for Arondir.
Córdova’s account is an actor’s reading of the character and the show, not a clinical description of grief. He said Arondir has little time to process the loss before events demand action. “I think the guy doesn’t even get the chance to grieve,” he told TheWrap.
Grief and guilt collide with his duty to Theo
Arondir’s grief is tangled with guilt about Bronwyn and Theo. He had promised Bronwyn that he would protect her son, so caring for Theo becomes both a responsibility and a reminder of the person he has lost. As Córdova put it in an interview with Nerdist: “So there’s this motivation to be a father, this is motivation to be a leader, but it’s very hard to fight against that loss.”

- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
That combination gives Arondir competing demands: he must look after Theo and make choices for others even while his own pain is unresolved. Córdova said the loss awakens new aspects of Arondir that “can definitely take him left or right,” leaving open whether those impulses will guide or endanger him.
Why Arondir turns toward revenge against Adar
By the Episode 7 confrontation during the Siege of Eregion, Córdova said, Arondir is focused on killing Adar in revenge for Bronwyn. “He’s going after the man that killed the love of his life,” he told TheWrap. Their brief fight leaves Arondir wounded, while Adar leaves him behind.

The revenge motive strains a more complicated view Arondir had previously held. Arondir had recognized Adar’s concern for the orcs, an understanding other characters did not share. Bronwyn’s death does not simply erase that perception, but it makes empathy harder to reconcile with the desire to punish Adar. The tension between those responses helps explain why grief may push Arondir toward choices that are emotionally understandable but dangerous.
How Córdova’s own experience informed the performance
Córdova told Nerdist that losing his sister when he was 20 informed his portrayal of Arondir’s grief. He described that experience as something he drew on for the performance, not as an equation between his life and the character’s circumstances.

Bronwyn’s absence is a story choice, not an explanation of the actor’s departure
Before Season 2 premiered, ComicBook.com reported that Nazanin Boniadi would not return as Bronwyn and quoted her clarifying that her decision not to return was unrelated to her later choice to prioritize advocacy. The character’s death should not be presented as a direct consequence of Boniadi’s advocacy or departure.
