The 2025 NRL Grand Final has ended. On Sunday, October 5, 2025, Melbourne Storm played Brisbane Broncos in a match broadcast live and free in Australia on 9Now and Channel 9HD. Watching online did not require a paid sports subscription, but 9Now required a free Nine profile and carried the regular Channel 9 broadcast, including advertising.
Where and when the 2025 Grand Final was shown
Nine’s Australian broadcast included the men’s Grand Final on 9Now and Channel 9HD. The match kicked off at different local times across the country:

What “free on 9Now” meant
9Now did not charge a separate subscription to watch Nine’s broadcast, but users had to create or use a free Nine profile. The stream was the regular Channel 9 feed, so it included commercials and broadcaster interruptions. Viewers also needed a compatible device and an internet connection; mobile data charges could apply. How to find a live event on 9Now
These were the routes to the live feed during the event. The match itself is over, so the old event listing may no longer be available.
- Open 9Now on a phone, tablet, computer or supported TV device.
- Select the login or profile option and sign in with a Nine profile, or create one.
- Open Live TV or Live Channels in the navigation.
- Select the Channel 9 live stream or the NRL Grand Final event tile, if listed, and start playback.
On a smart TV or streaming device, open the 9Now app, sign in with the same profile, then look in its live-TV section. If an event tile is not visible, check the live channels rather than relying only on on-demand sports listings. 9Now’s live-event instructions describe the Live TV and Live Channels routes.

Registering and testing the login on the intended device ahead of an event can avoid last-minute email verification or password-recovery delays. 9Now supports phones, tablets, computers and TVs, but not every model or streaming device is necessarily supported.
The full Grand Final day schedule
The phrase “NRL Grand Final” usually means the men’s decider. The NRLW Grand Final was a separate match earlier in the day. Nine’s Sydney schedule was:

Times for the State Championship and NRLW broadcasts varied by state. Nine’s release lists the regional schedule.
What to do if a 9Now stream does not work
- Check that you are signed in to the correct Nine profile.
- Refresh the browser page or close and reopen the app.
- If the event tile is missing, navigate through Live TV or Live Channels.
- Check whether Channel 9 is available in your Australian location and whether the local broadcast is listed.
- Try another supported device or browser. If other services are also failing, restart the router; reducing other household internet use may help with congestion.
- Check 9Now’s help or service channels for an outage, and use Channel 9HD if it is available to you.
Live streams can be affected by network congestion, device problems or local outages; no particular picture quality, delay or uninterrupted playback is guaranteed. Streaming may also lag behind television or social-media updates. On a mobile connection, Wi-Fi may be preferable if data use or network congestion is a concern.

Watching outside Australia or after the match
The Australian 9Now stream should not be assumed to work overseas. For the 2025 event, the NRL’s guide listed different rights-holders by territory, including Fox Sports 2 in the United States, Sky Sports Main Event in the United Kingdom and Sky NZ in New Zealand. Other listed partners included beIN Sports, Fox Netherlands, ESPN Africa, Sportsnet World, Sport 24, Premier Sports Asia and SportDigital1+. A rights listing does not establish that a broadcast was free: local subscriptions, providers and availability depended on the territory and applicable rights period. Check the NRL’s 2025 event guide for the listed broadcasters. A VPN is not an officially supported or guaranteed way to access 9Now from abroad.
The intended 9Now presentation was a live simulcast of Channel 9, including pre-match coverage. A live broadcast, an on-demand replay and short highlights are different offerings. The live window has passed, and any replay or clips depend on what Nine or the NRL currently has in its catalogue; do not assume a full replay remains available indefinitely. Australians who had an aerial-connected television could also watch the live Channel 9HD broadcast without streaming. The NRL’s watch page lists broadcast and viewing options, but a general sports subscription should not be assumed to include this specific event’s live feed.
