News reports published in January 2026 say German doctor Selma met Muhammad Akmal, a young man from Pakistan’s Mandi Bahauddin district, while playing Roblox. Akmal reportedly said they stayed in touch online for about five months before Selma travelled to Pakistan and the two married. The account comes from interview-based reporting; the reports do not establish the couple’s story through independently reviewed records.
How Selma and Akmal reportedly met
Pakistan Point, Express Urdu and HUM News reported on January 21, 2026, that Selma, described as 26, and Akmal, described as 22, first connected while playing Roblox. Akmal reportedly said they continued communicating for roughly five months before Selma came to Pakistan. The outlets’ accounts appear to rely on interview coverage, so their repetition does not amount to separate confirmation of the timeline. Pakistan Point, Express Urdu and HUM News each describe the Roblox connection.
What the reports say happened next
The coverage says Selma travelled to Pakistan and married Akmal in the Mandi Bahauddin area, with support from both families. Akmal is described as being from a village in the district; its name appears with varying spellings, including Defar, Difaar and Daffar, so the exact spelling is not consistent across reports.
Reports also describe Selma adjusting to village life and learning Urdu and Punjabi. HUM News attributes this statement to her: “I was surprised by the daily chores, like washing clothes, dishes, and making bread.” The quote is presented here as HUM News’s reporting of her words, not as a transcript independently checked against the original interview.

Why reports give different wedding and travel costs
The reported combined cost of travel and wedding activities varies by outlet. These are estimates attributed to Akmal, not verified accounts:
| Outlet | Publication date | Reported estimate | What the estimate covers |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pakistan Point | January 21, 2026 | Approximately PKR 4.5 million | Travel and wedding expense, attributed to Akmal |
| HUM News English | January 21, 2026 | Approximately PKR 4.5 million | Travel and ceremony expense, attributed to Akmal |
| Pakistan Today | January 23, 2026 | Approximately PKR 3.7 million | Travel and wedding ceremonies, attributed to Akmal |
The reports do not reconcile the difference, so neither figure should be treated as an independently confirmed total.

What remains unverified
The published accounts identify Selma as a German doctor and report the couple’s ages, relationship timeline and marriage. Some coverage also says she holds German and Bosnian passports or citizenship. The available reporting does not independently verify these personal details, establish the precise marriage date or provide marriage records. It also does not confirm the couple’s present living arrangements.
The central account is reported rather than independently documented: Pakistan Point, Express Urdu and HUM News published on January 21, 2026, and Pakistan Today published on January 23. No primary marriage documentation or full interview transcript is supplied in those accounts. Pakistan Today reports the alternative cost estimate, while the relationship details are also covered by Express Urdu.
