Hoda Kotb has two adopted daughters: Haley Joy and Hope Catherine. Haley joined Kotb’s family in 2017, and Hope followed in 2019. Kotb has shared selected family moments publicly while protecting details such as the children’s exact schedules, medical histories, and— in Hope’s case—her precise birth date.
Hoda Kotb has two adopted daughters: Haley Joy Kotb and Hope Catherine Kotb. Kotb has shared selected details about their arrivals and family life, but she has also kept many parts of their childhood private. The public record supports a family overview—not details about their school, medical history, biological relatives, or adoption agency.
Who are Hoda Kotb’s children?
| Child | What is publicly reported |
|---|---|
| Haley Joy Kotb | Kotb announced her adoption in February 2017. Kotb said Haley was born on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 2017. |
| Hope Catherine Kotb | Kotb announced her adoption during TODAY on April 16, 2019. Reliable coverage reviewed for this article does not establish Hope’s exact birth date. |
Haley Joy Kotb
Kotb announced that she had adopted Haley Joy in February 2017. During the announcement, she described Haley as a newborn and said that Haley had been born on February 14—Valentine’s Day.
That publicly reported date means Haley turned 9 on February 14, 2026. In September 2025, TODAY described her as 8 years old. Age references should be read in the context of the date on which they were published rather than treated as permanently current.

Haley also became connected to Kotb’s work as a children’s author. Kotb has said that Haley inspired I’ve Loved You Since Forever, a picture book about the enduring love between a parent and child. The book was published by Harper in 2018 and illustrated by Suzie Mason.
For families looking for the book connected most directly to Haley’s arrival and Kotb’s experience of becoming a mother, I’ve Loved You Since Forever by Hoda Kotb is the clearest starting point. It is a children’s picture book, not a memoir about the private details of Haley’s adoption.
Hope Catherine Kotb
Kotb announced the adoption of her second daughter, Hope Catherine, by phone during TODAY on April 16, 2019. The announcement came about two years after Haley joined the family. Contemporary coverage identified the baby as Hope Catherine Kotb.
Unlike Haley, Hope does not have a precise publicly established birth date in the reliable sources reviewed for this profile. TODAY described Hope as 6 in September 2025, so she was approximately 7 on August 12, 2026. That is an age estimate based on the published age statement—not evidence of an exact birthday—and a specific date should not be assigned without a stronger primary source.

What has Kotb shared about family life?
Recent TODAY coverage has offered a relatively ordinary picture of life with the girls: Kotb walking them to school, deliberately slowing down, and spending more time in day-to-day family routines. The profile described the household as having entered a “minivan-and-suburbs” phase and reported that the family welcomed a puppy named Waffles in summer 2025.

Kotb announced in September 2024 that she would leave her TODAY co-anchor role in early 2025. The Associated Press reported that Haley and Hope were then 7 and 5. In explaining the decision, Kotb said that her daughters and her mother deserved a larger share of her time.
That statement makes motherhood an important part of the context for Kotb’s next chapter, but it would be too broad to claim that every career decision was caused by one private family circumstance. Kotb’s public work since leaving the anchor role also includes projects focused on joy, personal growth, and navigating life transitions.
Kotb’s books connected to Haley and Hope
You Are My Happy
TODAY reported that You Are My Happy was inspired by Kotb’s bedtime routine with Haley. The story follows a mother bear and her cub as they reflect on the everyday things that make them happy. Its premise comes from a specific mother-and-daughter routine, although the book is not a factual account of Haley and Hope’s family life.
You Are My Happy by Hoda Kotb is therefore the strongest book recommendation for readers who came to Kotb’s story through her daughters. It works as a bedtime picture book and as a gentle parent-child story, without requiring readers to know anything about the family’s private history.
I’ve Loved You Since Forever
I’ve Loved You Since Forever is the earlier title most directly associated with Haley. Kotb has described Haley as the inspiration for the book, which centers on a parent’s love for a child. Library metadata identifies it as a 2018 Harper children’s picture book illustrated by Suzie Mason.

Jump and Find Joy
Kotb’s later memoir, Jump and Find Joy, is related to her current public identity but is not a children’s book or an adoption-specific account. TODAY presents it as a guide to navigating major changes, including Kotb’s departure from the morning show. It is better understood as a broader life-transition book than as a story about Haley and Hope.
What is Hoda Kotb doing now?
Kotb’s official website presents her as the creator of Joy 101 and promotes Jump and Find Joy. The Joy 101 app listing describes short wellness practices involving meditation, breathwork, movement, sleep, and focus. These projects are part of Kotb’s wider work around joy and personal growth; they should not be described as parenting resources or as products created specifically for Haley and Hope.
What is not publicly confirmed?
Several details about the girls should remain outside a responsible profile unless Kotb or another authoritative source makes them public:
- Hope Catherine’s exact birth date;
- the children’s schools or precise daily schedules;
- medical or developmental information;
- biological-family information; and
- the name or details of an adoption agency.
Both children are minors. Keeping the account at the level Kotb and reputable outlets have chosen to share respects that boundary while still answering the basic question about her family.
