No—the Henry Cavill James Bond trailer is not an official preview, and Cavill has not been announced as the next 007. The video, titled Bond 26 – First Trailer | Henry Cavill, Margot Robbie, was uploaded by the YouTube channel KH Studio on April 13, 2024. It is a fan-made concept trailer that combines footage from existing films with AI-generated and AI-altered imagery.
What the viral trailer shows
The concept presents Cavill as James Bond and Margot Robbie as a Bond-related lead, wrapped in familiar 007-style imagery and the label “Bond 26.” Its polished edit and studio-like framing can make it look like a genuine announcement, especially when a clip or thumbnail is shared without the original context. But the video was not released by Amazon MGM Studios, Eon Productions, MGM, or the official James Bond channels.

KH Studio described it as a concept trailer made for artistic and entertainment purposes. Its imagined casting and production details—including any suggestion that filming was beginning in 2024—are part of the fan-made scenario, not verified information about the real film.
It is a hybrid edit, not a whole trailer generated by AI
The European Broadcasting Union’s fact-check of the video found a mixture of material: clips from other movies and earlier Bond productions, alongside AI-generated or AI-altered images. Among the examples it identified were footage of Robbie from Terminal and a shot apparently based on Elizabeth Debicki’s appearance in The Man from U.N.C.L.E. with Robbie’s face digitally inserted. The verification also identified AI-enhanced imagery portraying Cavill as Bond.

So “AI trailer” is a convenient shorthand, but it can give the wrong impression if taken to mean every frame was generated from scratch. The video is better understood as an edited collage of existing performances, digital manipulation, and synthetic imagery. The EBU noted visual clues such as blurred edges and an airbrushed look around some of the purportedly AI-generated figures.
Why it drew so much attention
Cavill is a familiar fan choice for 007, and there is a real connection behind the speculation: he auditioned for Casino Royale before Daniel Craig was cast. Director Martin Campbell later said Cavill was too young at the time. That history helps explain why the imagined casting felt plausible to some viewers, but it does not indicate that Cavill was selected for the next film.

Cavill’s action and spy roles, Robbie’s star power, recognizable Bond imagery, and slick editing all helped the concept travel. AI face alteration also made it possible to show a casting scenario that had never taken place. Some people encountering reposted clips may not have seen the original description identifying it as a concept; that is different from proving how many viewers were actually misled. There is no evidence that Amazon MGM commissioned the video or used it to test audience reaction.
How many views did it get?
Published view counts are dated snapshots, not a single definitive total. The EBU reported more than 2.2 million views by April 17, 2024; Forbes reported more than 2.5 million by April 18; and ComingSoon cited about 3.4 million by April 23. Those figures show why the video was described as viral, but they should not be mistaken for its current view count or proof that millions of people believed it was real.

Has Henry Cavill been cast as Bond?
No official announcement in the cited sources confirms Cavill’s casting. In its latest update cited here, dated May 14, 2026, Amazon MGM Studios said the search for the next Bond was underway and that it would not comment on specific casting details during the process. The official James Bond website carried the studio’s statement. Cavill’s past audition and popularity with fans are context—not confirmation, or evidence of current negotiations.
The real status of Bond 26
The next Bond film is a real project, separate from the fan trailer. Amazon MGM has announced Denis Villeneuve as director, Steven Knight as writer, Amy Pascal and David Heyman as producers, and Tanya Lapointe as executive producer. The studio described it as the next chapter after Craig’s final Bond film, No Time to Die (2021). Its May 2026 update left the casting process unresolved; it did not announce a release date or validate the fan video’s invented production claims.
When checking a supposed film trailer, look for it on official studio or franchise channels and compare its claims with a dated studio announcement. A familiar actor, impressive effects, high view count, or Bond branding can make a fan edit convincing, but none establishes that a film is official.
