Characters, creatures and early transformations
Among the recognizable characters highlighted by the Associated Press and British Vogue are Jessica Rabbit, Fiona from Shrek, Betty Boop and a witch. Other transformations include a butterfly, ape, cat and crow, as well as an elderly version of Klum. The mix lets her alternate between recognizable references and looks that change her into something less familiar.
2008: Kali
The Associated Press describes Klum’s 2008 costume as Kali, the Hindu goddess associated with death and destruction. The look used blue body paint, multiple arms and dangling heads. Kali is a religious figure, not simply a generic horror character; describing the costume accurately matters when recounting its imagery.

2016: a group of Klum lookalikes
For the clone costume, Klum appeared alongside several lookalikes. The Associated Press and TIME both describe the group look, which made duplication itself the transformation: instead of one altered Klum, the visual effect was a crowd of versions of her.
2019: an alien experiment gone awry
The Associated Press lists an alien experiment gone wrong among Klum’s costumes. TIME’s contemporaneous coverage describes an exposed-anatomy effect across the body and extensive prosthetic work on her face, making this one of her more grotesque, special-effects-driven transformations.

2022: the worm
Klum’s worm costume exchanged a human silhouette for a long, enclosed creature form. Vogue reported that she spent two years crafting it; Vanity Fair’s behind-the-scenes account discusses the design challenge and FX artist Mike Marino’s role. Klum arrived encased in the suit and posed on the floor to move like a worm.
She has described the wider appeal of dressing up this way: “I love the transformation of Halloween: People wear costumes, and with that, shed some insecurities of everyday life.”

2023: a peacock with a living tail
The peacock costume turned the transformation into a group performance. The Associated Press reported that Cirque du Soleil performers became the feathers of Klum’s tail, while her husband, Tom Kaulitz, dressed as an egg. 2024: E.T.
Vogue reported that Klum began planning the E.T. costume in November 2023, calling FX artist Mike Marino and his team to discuss how to execute it. 2025: Medusa
For Medusa, Klum chose the classical monster for a modern reinterpretation. Vogue reported that the costume took six months. Klum explained the idea this way: “I wanted to explore the classic monsters of history, and reimagine one in a modern way,” This is the latest documented look in the cited coverage as of October 7, 2026, not a claim about a costume for Halloween 2026.

The selected costumes reveal several distinct ways Klum creates an impact:
