Heidi Klum’s 2025 Halloween costume was Medusa, the snake-haired figure from Greek mythology. She revealed the custom look at her annual Halloween party in New York on October 31, with her husband, musician Tom Kaulitz, dressed as a man turned to stone.
What did Heidi Klum wear for Halloween in 2025?
Klum appeared as a ferocious, modern interpretation of Medusa. The Associated Press described green scales, snakes and fangs; Vogue reported moving mechanical snakes and a custom split snake tongue. Klum told Vogue that the snakes moved independently, helping them look lifelike.
Medusa is associated in Klum’s account with serpents for hair and the power to turn living things to stone. Kaulitz’s stone-like costume made the mythological pairing part of the scene.
How was the Medusa costume made?
This was a custom professional creation, not a named off-the-shelf costume. Vogue reported that Klum worked with longtime special-effects collaborator Mike Marino and a team of more than 15 people. The team spent six months on the look, which included a hand-painted costume and mechanical snake details.

The time reported for getting ready varies by what is being counted. Vogue said Klum spent nine hours in the makeup chair; the Associated Press reported Klum saying it took 10 hours to get into costume. Those are separate source-reported descriptions, not interchangeable measures.
Why did Klum choose Medusa?
Klum told Vogue she wanted to revisit a classic monster in a modern way, describing Medusa as “truly iconic—mysterious yet ferocious.” The combination of recognizable mythology and grotesque transformation suited the costume’s scales, fangs and animated snakes.

Speaking to the Associated Press about the result, Klum said, “So I wanted to be really, really like a really ugly, ugly Medusa. And I feel like we nailed it – to the teeth,” before pointing to her fangs.

A retail Medusa costume or snake headpiece can suggest the same snake-and-scale motif, but it should not be confused with Klum’s custom build. The reporting describes mechanical snakes and professional makeup; it does not identify a consumer kit or retail product that reproduces those features.
