Ronnie James Dio, meanwhile, sings “God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen” on a multi-artist holiday compilation. Those are different kinds of heavy-metal Christmas recordings—and the available catalog evidence does not confirm a specific Christmas track by Type O Negative or Korn.
Heavy metal Christmas songs: the confirmed tracks
| Artist | Track | Kind of recording | Release context |
|---|---|---|---|
| AC/DC | “Mistress for Christmas” | Christmas-themed band song | The Razors Edge, as listed in the official AC/DC music archive |
| Ronnie James Dio | “God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen” | Traditional carol performance, with Dio credited on vocals | The multi-artist compilation We Wish You A Metal Xmas And A Headbanging New Year; edition details are recorded in the Dio discography |
Does AC/DC have a Christmas song?
Yes. AC/DC’s official music archive lists “Mistress for Christmas” on The Razors Edge. The catalog placement makes it a Christmas-themed song in the band’s album catalog; it does not identify it as a cover of a traditional carol.

That is distinct from the band’s Backtracks collection. The official Backtracks page describes a rarities-and-live-cuts set and lists “Love Song”; it is not presented there as a Christmas release.
Ronnie James Dio on “God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen”
Dio’s contribution is a vocal credit on “God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen,” included on We Wish You A Metal Xmas And A Headbanging New Year. It is most accurate to describe this as Dio singing on a compilation track, not as a Dio solo Christmas album.

The Dio discography records multiple CD editions of the compilation, including a US Armoury Records edition dated October 13, 2008, as well as German and Japanese editions and later reissues. Track lists can differ by edition; some include bonus songs such as “O’Christmas Tree,” “Auld Lang Syne,” “Frosty The Snowman,” or “Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer.” Check the specific edition if you need its complete track list.

The catalog material available here does not establish a precise Type O Negative Christmas recording and its release context well enough to name a track as confirmed. Seasonal-song mentions alone do not establish who recorded a track or where it appeared.
The Korn official catalog material reviewed likewise did not identify a Christmas song. That is not proof that no such recording exists; it means a specific track could not be confirmed from the catalog evidence cited here. Neither band should be assigned an unsourced song title.
