The announcement links the subject to Travis’s long association with horses: it says he had been on horseback since infancy and that his late father, Harold Traywick, was a renowned North Carolina horse trainer. That background offers context for the song, but does not establish that its story is autobiographical.

IFPI gives a more detailed account of the earlier Randy Travis song “Where That Came From,” released in 2024 with AI assistance. For that project, Warner Music Nashville described using 42 original Travis vocal recordings and a recording by country singer James Dupré as a starting point for AI-assisted vocal work. Those details apply to “Where That Came From”; they are not confirmed production details for “Horses in Heaven.” The earlier release is also discussed in a 117 Entertainment Group announcement.
In the IFPI report, Warner Music Nashville co-chair and co-president Cris Lacy described the project this way: “I think everybody had so much ownership and felt such a responsibility. This isn’t generative AI. This isn’t a computer creating something. But this is a bunch of humans who are using a tool to help someone who has a disability and still wants to live their life’s purpose.” This is Lacy’s characterization of the project, not a general technical definition of AI music.
