Discovery described as 70% off its stated $9.99 monthly regular price. Enrollment ended December 2, 2024, so the offer is no longer available as of October 8, 2026.
What was the HBO Max Black Friday deal in 2024?
Warner Bros. Discovery announced the promotion on November 25, 2024. It covered the ad-supported With Ads plan in the United States, not every Max plan or every country. The company’s official announcement described the offer as “$2.99 per month for the first six months on the With Ads plan.” A separate Max announcement also confirmed the $2.99 monthly price and the new- and returning-subscriber scope.
- Promotional price: $2.99 per month for the first six months.
- Stated regular price: $9.99 per month.
- Advertised discount: 70%, as characterized by Warner Bros. Discovery.
- Enrollment deadline: Monday, December 2, 2024.
The 70% figure is the publisher’s description of the deal; it is not an independently audited savings calculation. The announcement establishes the six-month promotional term but does not establish the post-promotion price a particular subscriber would have been charged. That amount would have depended on the terms shown with the subscriber’s original offer.
Who could sign up, and where?
The U.S. promotion was available to eligible new and returning subscribers through Max.com, Apple, Google Play, Roku, Samsung, and Xumo. Amazon Fire TV was also listed, but the announcement restricted that route to new Max customers.

- New or returning subscriber: eligible on the named platforms, subject to the Fire TV restriction.
- New customer using Amazon Fire TV: eligible according to the announcement.
- Returning customer using Amazon Fire TV: not included in the stated Fire TV offer.
These were the platforms named in the official terms; the offer should not be generalized to every billing provider. The promotion was a streaming subscription deal and did not require buying a streaming device or television.
Is the HBO Max Black Friday deal still available?
No. The published signup deadline was December 2, 2024. Since that date has passed, readers cannot claim this specific promotion as of October 8, 2026. The 2024 announcement does not establish current Max prices, plans, or whether a later Black Friday promotion exists.
