What is Happy Gilmore 2 about?
Spoiler-light summary: Happy Gilmore returns to competitive golf after years away, hoping that a comeback can support his daughter’s ambitions while reigniting old rivalries and drawing an enormous collection of celebrity and professional-golf cameos.
Netflix describes Happy as a former golf standout who is not finished with the sport. The more detailed setup places him decades after his 1996 Tour Championship victory. He is rusty, works at a grocery store, and has a family that includes four sons and a daughter named Vienna. Happy’s comeback is tied to his effort to raise enough money to send Vienna to a ballet program in Paris.

That premise gives the sequel a familiar underdog structure: Happy must rediscover the game, deal with the consequences of his temper, and face old opponents while trying to do something meaningful for his family. The film also returns to the original movie’s mixture of golf competition, broad slapstick, sports celebrity appearances, and deliberately exaggerated rivalries.

Happy Gilmore 2 cast
Returning characters

- Ben Stiller as Hal L.: Stiller reprises the mustachioed orderly from the first film, although the character appears in a new context.
New and supporting cast members
- Bad Bunny, credited as Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, as Oscar Mejías: Oscar is described by Netflix as Happy’s busboy-turned-caddie. He is learning golf’s conventions while bringing enthusiasm to Happy’s team.

- Maxwell Jacob Friedman, Conor Sherry, Ethan Cutkosky, Philip Fine Schneider, and Sunny Sandler: They play Happy and Virginia’s children, including their daughter Vienna.

Netflix’s broader cast guide also lists Steve Buscemi, Marcello Hernandez, Eric André, Martin Herlihy, Oliver Hudson, Guy Fieri, Kevin Nealon, Nick Swardson, Margaret Qualley, Haley Joel Osment, Benny Safdie, and other actors. Because the film has an unusually large ensemble, a cast listing should not be read as proof that every named performer has a major role.

Netflix Shop, Callaway, and Odyssey are the most relevant places to check for official products. Ordinary golf equipment marketed with similar wording is not automatically official Happy Gilmore 2 merchandise.
Release partnerships and promotions
The release campaign also included partnerships that are useful as film context but should not be confused with permanent viewing or product recommendations:
- Subway: Christopher McDonald’s Shooter McGavin served as the campaign ambassador for a Happy Gilmore Meal. This was a promotional tie-in and may have been limited by time and geography.
- U.S. Bank: The “Bank Happy” campaign featured Verne Lundquist, producer Jack Giarraputo, and PGA Tour golfer Collin Morikawa.
- Callaway and Odyssey: Both golf brands were connected with film-related equipment and merchandise, including the limited-edition golf balls and Hockey Stick Putter.
These promotions help explain the film’s visibility across golf, sports, food, and retail channels. They do not establish that a promotion is still running or that a financial product, meal, or piece of equipment is currently available.
