Haley Joel Osment was arrested at Mammoth Mountain in Mammoth Lakes, California, on April 8, 2025. The Mono County District Attorney later announced two misdemeanor charges. Osment apologized after police footage was reported to show him using antisemitic language toward an officer. In June 2025, a judge granted him a one-year diversion, but the available reporting does not establish the outcome of a compliance review scheduled for January 5, 2026.
Why was Haley Joel Osment arrested?
Osment was arrested on April 8, 2025, at Mammoth Mountain in Mammoth Lakes. Initial reporting described the arrest as being on suspicion of public intoxication and possession of a controlled substance. Those were arrest suspicions, not findings of guilt. The Los Angeles Times reported on the arrest and footage.

What charges did prosecutors announce?
On April 17, 2025, Mono County District Attorney David Anderson announced two misdemeanor charges: disorderly conduct while under the influence of alcohol in a public place under California Penal Code §647(f), and possession of cocaine under Health and Safety Code §11350(a). The charging release specified cocaine possession after initial coverage had referred more generally to a controlled substance. The Mono County District Attorney’s release says the allegations must be proven beyond a reasonable doubt and that a defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty. A charge is not a conviction.
What did Osment apologize for?
Police footage that became public in April 2025 was reported by the Los Angeles Times to show Osment directing antisemitic language at an officer. In a public statement, Osment said he was horrified by his conduct, apologized to those he had hurt, and said he felt he had let the Jewish community down. He also attributed his behavior to being in the throes of a blackout and referred to recent loss and displacement; those were his explanations, not independently established findings about his condition or what caused the incident.

“I don’t ask for anyone’s forgiveness, but I promise to atone for my terrible mistake,” Osment said in the statement reported by the Los Angeles Times on April 18, 2025. The Times reported that his apology addressed the slur but did not directly address his arrest.
What did the diversion order require?
In a report published June 3, 2025, the Los Angeles Times said a judge granted Osment a one-year diversion. The reported conditions applied for six months and included regular recovery and therapy meetings, as well as obeying all laws.

The Times reported that failure to complete diversion would reinstate the proceedings. The order was a diversion arrangement, not a report that the charges had already been dismissed or that Osment had been convicted. The June 3 account describes the reported terms.

The June 2025 report scheduled a compliance review for January 5, 2026. The available reporting does not establish what happened at that review, whether Osment completed the conditions, or the case’s present disposition. A scheduled review date alone does not show that charges were dismissed or that proceedings remain active. A current answer requires a later reliable report or a Mono County Superior Court record.
