Hinata measures 162.8 cm in Season 1, 164.2 cm in Season 4, and 172.2 cm after high school; birthdays stay fixed.
This guide uses “main characters” to mean the core Karasuno cast plus the most prominent recurring opponents and national-level players. It includes major figures from Nekoma, Aoba Johsai, Shiratorizawa, Fukurodani, Date Tech, Inarizaki, Kamomedai, and Itachiyama, rather than claiming to list every named player.

Ages are expressed as high-school story ranges or adult status, heights remain in centimeters, and each changing height is labeled by season, month, or post-high-school period. The broader all-cast data is a secondary compilation, while the official anime profiles directly confirm example values such as Hinata’s season-specific heights.
Key takeaways
- ShĹŤyĹŤ Hinata is 162.8 cm in the official Season 1 profile, 164.2 cm in the official Season 4 profile, and 172.2 cm in post-high-school reference data.
- High-school ages are best shown as ranges such as 15–16 or 17–18 because a character’s birthday may or may not have occurred during the Japanese school year.
- Birthdays remain fixed character details, but ages and heights depend on the story period, school year, season profile, or timeskip.
- Aone Takanobu is the tallest player in this selected main-cast guide at 196.3 cm; Lev Haiba is 194.3 cm and Kiyoomi Sakusa is 192.3 cm.
- Shueisha’s official comics listing records 45 collected Haikyu!! volumes, while VIZ lists English editions, including a 3-in-1 format.
How should you read Haikyu!! character ages, heights, and birthdays?
Haikyu!! character ages are usually more accurate as school-year ranges than as one supposedly current number. A first-year student is generally 15–16, a second-year student is generally 16–17, and a third-year student is generally 17–18, although the precise age in a scene depends on whether the character’s birthday has passed.

Heights also require a story-period label. Hinata’s official anime profiles show him at 162.8 cm in the Season 1 profile and 164.2 cm in the Season 4 profile. Common reference data list Hinata at 172.2 cm after his high-school growth period. Those figures are not contradictory: they describe different points in the timeline.
This guide defines “main characters” as the core Karasuno cast plus prominent recurring rivals and national-level players from Nekoma, Aoba Johsai, Shiratorizawa, Fukurodani, Date Tech, Inarizaki, Kamomedai, and Itachiyama. The official Shonen Jump series page foregrounds the central Karasuno players, managers, and staff, but this is not a list of every named player in the series.
Core Karasuno characters: what are their ages, heights, and birthdays?
The following table places Karasuno’s central characters in their high-school story context. Student ages are ranges tied to grade, and heights are labeled when the available data show a meaningful change.
Source note: The official anime profiles directly establish profile information such as grade, position, height, weight, and birthday for featured characters. The broader values below are commonly listed in Fiction Horizon’s secondary reference published March 8, 2023; that compilation should not be treated as a single official master database.

Hinata’s entry is the clearest example of why a single “official height” can mislead. The official anime site gives two different values for his first-year profile across seasons, while the 172.2 cm figure belongs to a later post-high-school reference point. Hinata should not be described as 172.2 cm during his earliest Karasuno matches.
Who are the major rival and national-level characters?
The prominent opponents below cover the rival schools and national-level players most relevant to Karasuno’s progression. Their ages remain tied to the tournament or school-year period in which they appear, rather than to the present day.

| Rank | Character | Team | Height |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Aone Takanobu | Date Tech | About 196.3 cm |
| 2 | Lev Haiba | Nekoma | About 194.3 cm |
| 3 | Kiyoomi Sakusa | Itachiyama | About 192.3 cm |
| 4 | KĹŤtarĹŤ Bokuto | Fukurodani | About 190.3 cm |
| 5 | Kei Tsukishima | Karasuno | About 190.1 cm |
| 6 | Wakatoshi Ushijima | Shiratorizawa | About 189.5 cm |
Lev is often described as the tallest character in an early central grouping, but that statement is narrower than saying Lev is tallest among all prominent players. Aone’s 196.3 cm listing makes Aone the tallest character in the broader selection used here. Hitoka Yachi, at about 149.7 cm, is the shortest person in the tables; among the listed players, Yū Nishinoya is the shortest at 159.3 cm in April 2012 and 160.5 cm in November 2012.
Which Haikyu!! characters change height during the story?
Hinata, Asahi, Nishinoya, and Kenma have height entries that illustrate profile or timeline changes. The figures should be preserved with their dates or labels rather than collapsed into one number.
| Character | Earlier profile or date | Later profile or date | How to use the figures |
|---|---|---|---|
| ShĹŤyĹŤ Hinata | 162.8 cm; official Season 1 profile | 164.2 cm; official Season 4 profile; 172.2 cm after high school in common reference data | Use the season or post-high-school label; 172.2 cm is not his early first-year height. |
| Asahi Azumane | 184.7 cm; April 2012 | 186.4 cm; November 2012 | Both values belong to different points in the school year. |
| YĹ« Nishinoya | 159.3 cm; April 2012 | 160.5 cm; November 2012 | The later value reflects a profile update rather than a contradiction. |
| Kenma Kozume | 169.2 cm; April 2012 | About 170 cm; later profile | Keep the date or profile period attached to the rounded later value. |
The official Season 1 and Season 4 pages provide the strongest direct evidence for Hinata’s season-specific anime heights. The other dated comparisons come from the secondary compilation, so the article preserves its labels instead of implying that every number comes from an official anime database.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Why are school year and birthday more useful than a single exact age?
School year identifies where a character is in the story, while a birthday explains why two characters in the same grade may have different numerical ages at a particular moment. A first-year character listed as 15–16 is not missing information; the range reflects the birthday cutoff and the passage of the school year.
Rank #3
Birthdays are fixed character attributes in the reference material, so they can be listed separately from age. The birthdays in the tables are month-and-day values, not fictional birth years. A reader should not convert those birthdays into present-day ages as of 2026, because the series’ story timeline—not the current calendar year—is the relevant frame.
Adult characters need a separate qualification. Ittetsu Takeda and Keishin Ukai are identified by adult status and staff role, but this guide does not manufacture precise adult ages for them. Their story-dependent ages should not be compared directly with the student ranges.
Are these Haikyu!! ages and heights official?
Some profile values are directly supported by official anime pages, while the complete cross-cast table is a secondary reference assembled from manga and guidebook information. The official Season 1 profile page and official Season 4 profile page demonstrate the season-specific format, including Hinata’s different listed heights.
The broader character data should therefore be described as commonly listed rather than as an official master spreadsheet. The official Shonen Jump page is useful for confirming the series’ central Karasuno cast and premise, but it does not turn every value in a secondary compilation into a directly publisher-verified statistic.
Where can readers find the original Haikyu!! manga?
The original manga is the most natural source material for readers who want the full character timeline rather than isolated profile facts. Shueisha’s official comics listing records 45 collected volumes, and VIZ’s official Haikyu!! catalog lists English editions, including a separate 3-in-1 edition catalog.
Readers who want the source material can browse Haikyu!! manga volumes, then check the language, format, volume number, seller, and current availability before buying. The manga recommendation is separate from the statistics table: a collected volume may provide story context, while a season profile or character guide may be the source for a particular height entry.
Can you stream the Haikyu!! anime everywhere?
Haikyu!! streaming availability is region- and time-dependent, so no single service should be presented as carrying every season or film for every reader. The official franchise portal provides an ONDEMAND information page, and Netflix maintains a Haikyu!! title page; readers should check the local catalog and publication date before relying on either page for complete availability.
The Bottom Line
Bottom line: Use a character’s grade or story-era age range, birthday, and clearly labeled height together. Hinata grows from 162.8 cm in the official Season 1 profile to 164.2 cm in Season 4 and 172.2 cm after high school, while Aone is the tallest player in this selected main-cast guide at about 196.3 cm.
