A circulating copy attributed to DepEd MIMAROPA Region is marked “First Edition, 2020.” That edition detail comes from the copy, not the portal listing.
“Beowulf” and “Clause” in the supplied title point to elements of the lesson rather than separate subjects. Beowulf-related situations appear in practice questions, while clauses are the building blocks used to explain conditional sentences.
How does a conditional sentence work?
A conditional sentence links a condition with a result. The if-clause states the condition and is dependent; the main clause states what happens or would happen as a result. For example, in “If the Geats face danger, Beowulf helps them,” the if-clause gives the condition and the main clause gives the result.

The if-clause can come before or after the main clause. When it comes first, a comma commonly separates the clauses. The module’s four patterns are useful learner templates for different relationships between condition, likelihood and time; they are not an exhaustive account of every conditional construction in English.
What four conditional patterns does the module teach?

These examples illustrate the module’s teaching patterns. In particular, the first conditional uses a present-simple verb in the if-clause—not will—even though the result is about a possible future.

How does the module use Beowulf?
Beowulf supplies characters and situations for grammar exercises, especially third-conditionals about events that did or did not happen in the past. Students may consider what might have happened if Beowulf had not helped the Geats, or how events at Heorot might have changed if a character had acted differently. These prompts practise counterfactual reasoning: the condition is understood as contrary to what happened, and the result imagines an alternative past.
The exercises are not a full retelling or literary analysis of the epic. The module does not establish that students need a particular Beowulf edition; the story functions as a practice context.

The lesson progresses from checking prior knowledge and explaining the forms to applying them. Its activities include identifying conditional types, completing sentences, correcting errors, transforming sentences and writing. The intended outcomes are to recognize conditional forms and use their verb patterns when expressing arguments.
When writing an argument, choose the form that matches the claim: a general relationship, a plausible future consequence, a hypothetical possibility or an alternative past. Make sure the tense pattern in each clause supports that meaning.
