Google Santa Tracker is a free seasonal website where children can explore Santa’s Village, play games and try creative or educational activities. The live Santa journey is a separate Christmas Eve feature. As of August 18, 2026, Google’s official site was reachable, but the 2026 countdown status and activity lineup were not confirmed; check the official Santa Tracker site again in December.
What is Google Santa Tracker?
Google Santa Tracker is more than a countdown clock. Its seasonal experience centers on Santa’s Village, a collection that Google has populated in past years with mini-games, stories, videos, interactive scenes and learning activities. Google says the project began in 2004, using its mapping technology to follow Santa: Google’s account of the Santa Tracker team.
The site is seasonal, and its exact contents can change. The official site was reachable on August 18, 2026, but its page did not provide readable details confirming that year’s launch date, countdown wording or game lineup. That means families should treat the examples below as activities Google has offered historically, not a promise that each one is available in 2026.

- Go to santatracker.google.com, checking that the address uses Google’s official domain.
- If Santa’s Village is active, choose an activity shown on the current page or in its activity menu.
- Return during December if the site is not yet showing seasonal activities. The 2026 activation date was not confirmed as of August 18.
- For the live Santa experience, check again on December 24; the interface and regional timing can vary by year.
Documented routes such as Code Lab, Code Boogie and Code a Snowflake may help locate familiar activities, but an old link or lesson plan does not guarantee that a game is still available. Start at the homepage if a direct route fails.

What can children do in Santa’s Village?
Try beginner coding and logic puzzles
Past versions have included Code Lab, where children arrange directional instructions to guide an elf through a maze; Code Boogie, which uses dance instructions and repeat blocks; and Code a Snowflake, a creative introduction to patterns and symmetry. Google’s lesson plans frame Code Lab around directions, sequences, loops and problem-solving for grades K–2, and Code Boogie around sequencing and loops for grades 3–5: Code Lab lesson plan and Code Boogie lesson plan. Explore geography and holiday traditions
Historical Santa’s Village activities have invited children to explore holiday customs, foods and celebrations around the world, sometimes using maps, Street View, translation or geography quizzes. Make, watch and play
Past seasonal collections have also featured elf customization, winter-scene building, artwork and coloring, videos, music, animations and Christmas e-cards. These are examples of the experience’s creative and entertainment side, not a confirmed 2026 menu; Google’s earlier Santa’s Village announcement describes previous offerings.

Santa’s Village is the place to explore activities in the run-up to Christmas; the live Santa journey is traditionally the event for Christmas Eve. Google’s historical announcements describe the village and countdown before the holiday, then Santa’s route around the world on or around December 24. Some announcements refer to December 23–24, reflecting timing differences, so the exact start can depend on the year and region. In earlier versions, the display included Santa’s position or progress, distance from a location and presents delivered. Google has also promoted access through products such as Search, Maps, Assistant and connected devices in different years, but those older integrations should not be assumed to work now. The map is a festive fictional experience, not real-world aviation or logistics tracking.
Is Santa Tracker educational, and what ages suit it?
It is both entertainment and light learning. Depending on which activities are available, children may encounter sequencing, loops, patterns, geography, cultural traditions and creative problem-solving. The coding games can introduce concepts, but Santa Tracker is not a complete coding curriculum or a substitute for structured instruction.

Google’s lesson plans identify Code Lab for grades K–2, Code Boogie for grades 3–5 and Code a Snowflake for grades 6–8. Those are lesson-plan ranges, not a universal age rating for the whole site. As practical guidance, younger children may prefer simple visual games, stories and animations with an adult nearby; older children may get more from coding puzzles, geography and open-ended creative activities.
What parents should know about access and supervision
The browser-based experience has historically been presented as free, and the reviewed sources do not establish a paid Santa Tracker subscription or in-app purchase requirement. That does not mean every related Google service or connected-device feature has the same access requirements. A Google account has not historically been needed just to visit Santa’s Village, while Assistant features may depend on device, country, language, age and current account settings.

- Before enabling Assistant or another personalized Google feature, check its current privacy and child-account settings. Google previously described Family Link as a route for children below the applicable age threshold to use Assistant; see its family-focused Santa’s Village announcement. Requirements and availability can change.
- Check a game’s language, audio, reading and motor demands for your child. Support may vary by activity, device and region.
If the site or a game does not work
- No countdown or empty page: It may be outside the active holiday period, or Google may not have launched that year’s content. The experience may also have been redesigned. Recheck in December before concluding that the service has ended.
- The interactive page will not load: Confirm the address, try a current browser with JavaScript enabled, and test another device or network. A privacy extension or network filter may block page scripts; you can temporarily test without it if appropriate.
- An old game link fails: Use the Santa Tracker homepage. A documented route or surviving lesson plan does not confirm that the linked activity remains live.
- An Assistant command fails: The device, language, country, child-account settings or feature itself may no longer be supported. Assistant is an optional route, not a requirement for using the website.
What to expect from the 2026 edition
As checked on August 18, 2026, the official site was reachable, but the available page output did not confirm the 2026 countdown launch, exact games, device support or current menu labels. For a reliable answer about what is live, visit Google Santa Tracker again in December. Google’s historical announcements establish a recurring seasonal pattern, not a guarantee that a particular activity will return.
