That is not a complete monthly bill and does not establish that this machine can encode your stream. Google lists Mumbai and Delhi among E2 regions; confirm the machine, region, and current charges in the Google Cloud Pricing Calculator before deploying.
What the $36.11 estimate includes
The arithmetic is $0.04947024 per hour Ă— 730 hours = $36.1132752, or about $36.11 USD. The hourly figure is Google’s E2 high-CPU listing for a 2-vCPU, 2-GiB VM, accessed October 3, 2026. The 730-hour month is an estimate convention; calendar months have different lengths. This is an on-demand compute illustration, not a quote for a configured streaming server.
Google lists Mumbai (asia-south1) and Delhi (asia-south2) among E2 regions. Availability and price depend on the selected machine and zone, so use Google’s Pricing Calculator to estimate the exact configuration and check the current price sheet.
What can change the actual bill
VM running time
Compute Engine charges vCPU and memory resources for at least one minute, then in one-second increments. A VM that remains running continues to incur uptime charges while idle, so a paused or disconnected stream does not stop compute charges unless you stop the VM. See Google’s VM pricing documentation.

Disk, images, and other resources
The compute-only estimate excludes persistent disk, image or license charges where applicable, GPUs, and other configured resources. Add these separately in the calculator; the VM price page does not cover every billable component.
Transfer to YouTube and other destinations
Google lists data transfer from a VM to YouTube as no charge, whether the VM uses an external or internal IP address. This YouTube-specific rule does not waive VM or resource charges, and it does not make traffic to every internet destination free. Google Cloud’s Premium Tier is the default for data transfer; outbound traffic to other destinations can incur charges depending on source location and destination. Is a 2-vCPU, 2-GiB VM enough for your stream?
The price example is not a performance recommendation. The title alone does not specify whether the VM must encode video, relay an already-encoded feed, or handle another workflow. Resolution, codec, bitrate, encoding method, source, and redundancy requirements all affect the needed configuration. Do not treat the example machine as tested or guaranteed to stream at any particular quality.
Google documents outbound bandwidth limits that vary by instance and routing. For most machine series, the maximum egress rate to external destinations is 3 Gbps per flow; total rates are also constrained by machine type and project quota. Check the limits for the chosen machine and compare them with the stream’s bitrate and protocol before relying on it. See Google’s egress bandwidth documentation.

How to make a realistic estimate
- Define the workload. Record the source workflow, resolution, codec, bitrate, encoding or relay method, and whether you need redundancy. These determine what resources and bandwidth to evaluate.
- Select a region and VM. Compare available machine types and zones in Mumbai, Delhi, or another suitable region. Do not assume the illustrative E2 size fits an encoding workload.
- Add billable resources. Include the disk, image or license, and any other resources your configuration needs.
- Check network charges and limits. Apply Google’s YouTube transfer rule only to traffic going to YouTube; estimate any other outbound traffic separately and verify the machine’s bandwidth constraints.
- Calculate and validate. Enter the selected region and resources in Google’s Pricing Calculator, then validate the configuration against the actual streaming workload. Rates and the final bill depend on the configured resources and applicable pricing.
