When does Godzilla Minus Zero come out?
The Japanese theatrical opening is November 3, 2026. GKIDS lists November 6 as the start of the wide release in the United States and Canada. The distributor described the Japan and North America dates as the first near-simultaneous release in the history of the Japan-produced Godzilla series; that description applies to those markets, not the worldwide rollout. Tickets and IMAX screenings
GKIDS announced that tickets went on sale October 6, 2026. In North America, IMAX early-access screenings are scheduled for November 3, Godzilla Day, ahead of the wide release on November 6 in standard and premium formats. Check an authorized local cinema or ticket provider for showtimes and available seats; the announcement does not mean every theater will offer IMAX or a premium-format screening. GKIDS describes Godzilla Minus Zero as the first Japanese production Filmed For IMAX. The distributor says it was shot entirely in Japan with high-definition digital cameras certified by IMAX, with imagery and sound optimized for IMAX screens. What is Godzilla Minus Zero about?
The story is set in 1949, two years after the events of Godzilla Minus One. Japan is still struggling to recover after being reduced to zero, and a new threat emerges. The film continues the Shikishima family story, according to GKIDS’ official synopsis.
Returning director and cast
Takashi Yamazaki returns as director, screenwriter and visual-effects lead. Ryunosuke Kamiki returns as Koichi Shikishima, and Minami Hamabe returns as Noriko Oishi. No additional cast names or further plot details are included here because they are not established in the cited announcement.

What is known about the previous film’s box office?
GKIDS reports that Godzilla Minus One grossed more than $116 million worldwide and won Best Visual Effects at the 96th Academy Awards. The distributor also says Minus One surpassed Shin Godzilla’s franchise box-office record of $78 million worldwide in 2023. These figures refer to Minus One, not Godzilla Minus Zero; no official projection for the new film’s box office is established. GKIDS’ announcement gives the background.
