Gisele Bündchen denied rumors that she had been unfaithful to Tom Brady, calling the allegation “a lie” in a New York Times interview published March 23, 2024. She also described her relationship with Joaquim Valente as beginning with friendship and said it felt “very honest” and “very transparent.”
What Bündchen said about the cheating allegation
Asked about rumors that her relationship with Valente began before her 2022 divorce from Brady, Bündchen rejected the claim: “That is a lie.” She also said, “I really don’t want to make my life a tabloid. I don’t want to open myself up to all of that.”
Those remarks are her denial; the interview coverage does not independently establish the private timeline behind the allegation. The Boston Globe’s account of the interview reports her response and the context of the rumors.
How she described her relationship with Joaquim Valente
Bündchen said, “This is the first time I am seeing someone that was a friend of mine first.” She characterized the relationship as “very different” and added, “It is very honest, and it’s very transparent.” Coverage identified Valente as the person she was describing; she did not offer more detail about the relationship in these remarks. Marie Claire’s interview coverage reproduces her comments.

Her comments on the scrutiny women face
Bündchen connected the rumors to what she sees as a broader pattern of women being blamed after leaving relationships. “This is something that happens to a lot of women who get blamed when they have the courage to leave an unhealthy relationship and are labeled as being unfaithful,” she said. She added: “They have to deal with their communities. They have to deal with their family. Of course for me, it just happens to be a little bit amplified.” These are her perspective and observations, not an independently established finding about the circumstances of her own divorce.
