But the claim that season 5 reverses an “awkward trend” is not established by the available official sources: they list episodes and describe the show’s future, but provide no ratings comparison or definition of the alleged trend.
What does the “awkward trend” claim mean?
The phrase is too vague to verify on its own. It does not identify whether the supposed trend concerns live viewers, ratings and share, delayed viewing, or another measure. The official CBS episode listings provide episode titles, dates, and descriptions, not audience-performance comparisons. Without a named metric, measurement source, geography, and comparable time period, it would be misleading to say season 5 has reversed a ratings trend.
That uncertainty is separate from the show’s renewal status: CBS Studios has announced season 6, regardless of whether season 5 improves or declines by any particular audience measure.
Is season 5 the last season of Ghosts?
No. CBS Studios says season 6 will premiere midseason, with the premiere date still to be announced, on the CBS Television Network and will be available to stream on Paramount+. That makes season 5 not the announced end of the sitcom. The announcement does not say how many seasons will follow season 6.

CBS Studios’ series announcement describes Ghosts as a single-camera comedy about Samantha and Jay, who turn the inherited Woodstone Mansion into a bed and breakfast inhabited by spirits.
What happens in season 5?
CBS’s season 5 episode page lists episodes beginning with “Soul Custody,” dated October 16, 2025. The listing runs through a two-part finale scheduled for May 21, 2026: “Up the Creek” and “Across The Pond.” The CBS series page supplies episode descriptions; its synopsis for “Across The Pond” says a trip abroad could determine Woodstone’s fate, while a career opportunity takes Sam out of town.

What is confirmed—and what is not
- Confirmed: CBS lists season 5 episodes through a two-part finale dated May 21, 2026.
- Confirmed: CBS Studios says season 6 is planned for midseason, with its premiere date to be announced.
- Not established: That season 5 has reversed a ratings or audience trend. The official sources cited here provide no comparable figures.
- Not established: The show’s future beyond season 6, or season 5 streaming availability and streaming access by territory.
For a meaningful claim that an “awkward trend” has changed, a report would need comparable figures from the same measurement provider, for the same geography and metric, across a clearly defined episode or season window. The episode schedule and season 6 announcement do not provide that evidence.
