Yes—this is a real standalone GeekWire podcast episode. Why the arrangement drew criticism
- Hybrid-work consistency: Employees were debating how Starbucks’ office expectations applied when the incoming chief executive could lead from another state.
- Symbolic compliance: A CEO’s physical presence can carry a different message from a policy that asks ordinary employees to return to an office.
- Environmental optics: Critics questioned the emissions associated with corporate-aircraft travel. That is a criticism discussed in the coverage, not an independently calculated emissions finding in this episode guide.
