What was announced at Gamescom 2024?
Gamescom took place in Cologne, Germany, with Opening Night Live serving as its kickoff presentation. VGC described the show as just over two hours long, combining new-game announcements and updates for existing titles. The games below are selected highlights from that presentation and related coverage; they should not be read as every announcement made across all Gamescom stages, publisher broadcasts and booths.

What these reveals had in common—and what they did not
The new-game announcements ranged from horror and action to co-op adventures. Their formats also differed: Revenge of the Savage Planet described several play modes in its reveal trailer, while King of Meat was announced as an online game for one to four players. The roughly 20-hour description for Dying Light: The Beast came from reports, rather than a runtime test.
What trailers, gameplay and updates were shown?
Not every major moment was a new game reveal. Several segments offered a first look at gameplay, a longer presentation, or news about a game already announced.

How did Gamescom extend beyond Opening Night Live?
Opening Night Live was one presentation within a larger trade and consumer event. Gamescom also included exhibitor booths, hands-on opportunities and publisher programming. Xbox said its booth would feature over 50 titles across more than 240 gaming stations, along with theaters, photo opportunities and a Gear Store. The company also scheduled three days of live broadcasts from the show floor, August 21–23.
Xbox’s event preview described its presence as running August 21–25, with public consumer hours August 22–25. That distinction matters: the stage show was a concentrated roundup, while the wider event offered visitors a chance to encounter games and activities in person.
