In September 2025, she announced she was leaving the show and ESPN; the cited reporting did not identify her next job. Rose described their 2021 split as mutual. Rumors linking it to Stephen A. Smith were not supported by credible evidence.
Why did Jalen Rose and Molly Qerim divorce?
Rose and Qerim married in July 2018. Rose filed for divorce in 2021, after the couple had been separated for almost a year. In a statement reported by TMZ, Rose said they had decided to go their separate ways and agreed that remaining friends and colleagues was best for their relationship.
Rose later described the decision as mutual. In a 2022 interview with GQ, he said they simply did not work as a couple. The public explanations do not disclose a more detailed personal cause, and the cited reporting does not establish private settlement terms or other details of their divorce.
Did Stephen A. Smith cause the split?
No credible evidence in the cited reporting establishes that Smith caused the divorce. Rose directly rejected that explanation in the GQ interview. In 2024, Awful Announcing reported that the rumors rested on Qerim and Smith’s on-air chemistry, while both had publicly denied them. Social-media claims of an affair should therefore be treated as unsubstantiated, not as an explanation for the divorce.
