GamesBeat Insider Series: Hollywood & Games was a half-day industry conference held on December 11, 2025, at the Clive Davis Theater in the Grammy Museum at LA Live in downtown Los Angeles. Its program examined how games, film, television, music, and technology intersect—from adapting stories across formats to licensing, marketing, and AI. The event has passed, and GamesBeat explicitly said it was not affiliated with The Game Awards.

What the conference was

The event’s theme was “CTRL Hollywood: Powering the Next Entertainment Revolution.” GamesBeat framed it as a meeting point for games, storytelling, and technology, with a focus on the growing connections among video games, film, television, and music. The organizer described it as a setting for cross-industry conversation, dealmaking, and networking rather than a consumer showcase. GamesBeat’s event announcement listed the conference from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Pacific, with breakfast and check-in before sessions.

Although it took place in Los Angeles on the same day as The Game Awards, the conference was not part of, or affiliated with, that awards show. Xsolla included it among its wider Los Angeles programming during The Game Awards week, which is a separate relationship. Xsolla’s December 10 announcement presented the event jointly with GamesBeat.

What the agenda explored

The published agenda connected creative questions—how stories and worlds travel between formats—with business questions about rights, funding, marketing, and revenue. It also treated technology and popular culture as forces shaping the relationship between games and entertainment. The agenda describes subjects and planned discussions; it is not evidence that any featured activation or adaptation achieved a particular commercial result.

Building story worlds across formats

A session on cross-platform worldbuilding addressed how interdisciplinary teams can develop story universes for games and screen adaptations. The agenda listed Bad Robot Games’ David Baronoff and writer Halley Gross, with Justin Berenbaum moderating.

Brands, licensing, and commercial strategy

Sessions considered brand and intellectual-property activations in Fortnite, Roblox, Minecraft, and ARK: Survival Ascended, including how such activations are measured. Another discussion focused on licensed-IP business strategy, including rights, funding, production, and the balance between commercial plans and the source property.

Culture, marketing, and technology

The program examined how music, fashion, creators, and pop culture can shape player engagement. It also included a discussion of AI’s effects on Hollywood and games, alongside broader themes involving interactive formats and game technology.

Entertainment properties in games—and games on screen

The agenda covered both directions of adaptation: entertainment properties appearing in games and games being developed for television or other screen formats. Listed subjects included MONOPOLY GO! and episodic storytelling based on game properties. These were agenda topics, not proof of the success of a particular title or adaptation.

Who was listed

Named participants across GamesBeat’s announcement and agenda included Halley Gross, David Baronoff, game developer Glen Schofield, Genies CEO Akash Nigam, CAA’s Derek Douglas, and Xsolla’s Berkley Egenes and Justin Berenbaum. The materials also listed representatives of Scopely, Hasbro, Ubisoft Film & Television, and Skydance/Paramount, including Kara Bilkiss. What is—and is not—established about the event

The available event materials establish its date, venue, stated theme, and planned program. They do not establish independently measured attendance, a deal count, or resulting business outcomes. Promotional audience or speaker counts displayed on the event site should not be read as verified event results without a dated source explaining how those figures were measured.

The sources also do not establish a current registration option or recording of the sessions. Because the conference took place on December 11, 2025, its original schedule is useful as a record of the program, not as a current ticket listing.
