A useful photo retrospective should show dated moments from those projects and Watson’s public appearances, while distinguishing character costume from her off-screen style.
From Hermione Granger to Belle
Watson became widely known as Hermione, the resourceful young witch at the center of the Harry Potter films. Years later, she played Belle in Disney’s live-action retelling of its animated classic, released in the United States on March 17, 2017. Disney’s film page identifies Watson as Belle and dates the release.
The roles mark different career stages, but the contrast is not simply a before-and-after story. Hermione and Belle are characters with distinct costumes and settings; Watson’s appearances outside those roles are another part of the timeline. Captions should make clear which is which.
Why Belle mattered to Watson
Watson described both characters as personal touchstones. In a 2017 TIME interview, she said Belle was her childhood heroine and Hermione was the character she idolized in her early teens. She called the chance to play both a rare experience.

Watson also spoke about how the live-action film approached Belle. In a March 10, 2017 ABC News interview, she said the film gave the character more room for her story and that she hoped Belle would feel “a slightly more modern version.” ABC reported that Watson did her own singing and dancing for the film.
Belle’s independence, in Watson’s reading
In a separate ABC News interview, Watson addressed criticism of Belle’s relationship with the Beast. She argued that Belle “keeps her independence” and “keeps that freedom of thought.” That is Watson’s interpretation of the character, not a settled consensus about the story. ABC News published her comments on February 17, 2017.

Haircuts, costumes and the images that tell the story
One well-documented point of contrast is Watson’s pixie haircut after the Harry Potter films. Vanity Fair’s February 28, 2017 profile, “Rebel Belle,” recounts the international attention the haircut received and quotes Watson calling it “the sexiest I’ve ever felt.” That moment belongs to her off-screen public image; Belle’s period-inspired costumes belong to the film’s styling.
A 20-image gallery can make those distinctions visible, but the images should be selected and captioned as a chronology rather than presented as proof of a radical physical change. A strong sequence would identify each photograph by year and project or event, and describe observable details such as haircut, costume, or event styling. It should not infer health, age-related change, or private circumstances from appearance.

The scale of anticipation for Belle
The film’s promotion drew enormous attention. The Guardian reported in 2017 that the first Beauty and the Beast trailer received 127 million views in its first 24 hours online. That figure describes trailer views, not Watson’s personal audience or reach.

Each image should carry enough context to answer three questions: when was it taken, what project or appearance does it show, and is Watson in character or appearing as herself? The sources documenting the film and Watson’s comments establish the career context, but they do not authenticate a particular set of 20 photographs. Each image therefore needs its own date, event or production identification, credit, and usage-rights verification.
