The rebrand did not remove existing libraries or collections, and the platform still offers a sizable catalog of free, ad-supported movies alongside rentals and purchases.
The best place to start is with Catch Me If You Can, Speed, Casino Royale, Ghost in the Shell, or A Knight’s Tale. They cover a range of moods while remaining relatively easy recommendations. The full list below also includes quieter dramas, demanding war films, atmospheric mysteries, science fiction, fantasy, and horror.
Because Fandango at Home’s catalog changes, treat this as a guide to movies worth checking rather than a permanent availability list. Search for the title in the service’s current Free to Watch section before settling in.
What happened to Vudu’s free movies?
Vudu was renamed Fandango at Home in 2024. Fandango said the change would not disrupt users and that existing libraries and collections would remain unchanged. You may still see “Vudu,” “Vudu Movies on Us,” or “FandangoNOW” references in older help pages, apps, search results, and device menus, but the current consumer-facing brand is Fandango at Home.

The free catalog is supported by limited advertising. You do not need a subscription like a traditional premium streaming service, but “free” does not mean that the movie is yours to download or keep. Some films may instead be available only as rentals or purchases, and a title’s availability can change over time or differ by device.
Fandango’s free streaming service is currently available in the United States. Availability does not extend automatically to every country, territory, or possession.
The five easiest recommendations
1. Catch Me If You Can (2002) — best crowd-pleasing drama
Steven Spielberg’s fast-moving account of Frank Abagnale Jr. stars Leonardo DiCaprio as a young impostor pursued by Tom Hanks’s determined FBI agent, with Christopher Walken in a memorable supporting role. It has the broad appeal of a caper, the momentum of a crime thriller, and enough emotional material to keep it from feeling disposable.
This is the safest first choice if several people are trying to agree on a movie. It is entertaining without being especially grim, and it works for viewers who enjoy true-crime-inspired stories but do not want a relentlessly dark film. Rotten Tomatoes’ current Fandango free-movie guide lists it at a 96% Tomatometer score.

A bus carrying passengers must stay above a dangerous speed or explode. That simple premise gives director Jan de Bont almost no room for downtime, while Keanu Reeves, Sandra Bullock, and Dennis Hopper supply the star power.
Speed is an excellent choice when the goal is uncomplicated momentum. It is a tight, high-concept popcorn thriller rather than a complicated character drama, and its central problem is explained almost immediately. Rotten Tomatoes lists a 95% Tomatometer score.
3. Casino Royale (2006) — best Bond movie on the list
Daniel Craig’s first appearance as James Bond is a grounded reboot in which the newly promoted agent pursues financier Le Chiffre. The film combines physical action, espionage, poker tension, and a more serious emotional arc than many earlier Bond adventures.
Choose this if you want a substantial spy thriller rather than a lightweight action movie. It is also a good entry point for viewers who have never watched the older Bond films because it establishes this version of the character from the beginning. Rotten Tomatoes lists it at 94% in the current free-movie guide.

4. Ghost in the Shell (1995) — best anime and cyberpunk pick
Mamoru Oshii’s animated science-fiction film follows cyborg officer Motoko Kusanagi as she investigates a hacker known as the Puppet Master. Its cyberpunk cityscapes and philosophical questions about consciousness, identity, and the boundary between human and machine have influenced decades of science fiction.
This is not merely an action cartoon. The film is atmospheric, deliberately paced, and interested in ideas as much as plot. It is a strong pick for viewers who want visually ambitious animation and philosophical science fiction. Rotten Tomatoes lists a 95% Tomatometer score.
5. A Knight’s Tale (2001) — best upbeat period adventure
Heath Ledger plays a peasant-born man who enters the world of medieval jousting and attempts to change his social position. The film mixes an underdog sports structure with romance, comedy, energetic performances, and deliberately anachronistic music.
A Knight’s Tale is ideal for a casual group watch. It is lighter than most of the films on this list and does not demand close attention to appreciate its central adventure. Fandango at Home’s current free selections include it, although catalog status should be checked before viewing.

6. A Love Song (2022) — best quiet romance
Dale Dickey plays a solitary traveler waiting at a rural Colorado campground, where an old connection may offer a different future. Wes Studi co-stars in this small-scale, reflective drama.
Pick A Love Song when you want atmosphere, landscape, and carefully observed characters rather than constant plot movement. Its modest scale is part of its appeal, but viewers expecting a conventional, high-conflict romance may find it too restrained. Rotten Tomatoes lists a 95% Tomatometer score.
7. The Eternal Daughter (2022) — best atmospheric mystery
Joanna Hogg’s gothic drama stars Tilda Swinton in dual roles as an artist and her elderly mother staying at a remote hotel. The visit gradually exposes buried family history and unresolved tensions.
This is a slow-burn psychological mystery, not a conventional jump-scare horror film. Its unease comes from memory, grief, isolation, and the hotel’s uncertain atmosphere. Watch it when you want intimate family drama wrapped in gothic suspense. Rotten Tomatoes lists a 95% Tomatometer score.

8. Eye in the Sky (2015) — best ethical and political thriller
Helen Mirren leads this pressure-cooker drama about the military and political consequences of a proposed drone strike. The suspense comes less from battlefield spectacle than from the competing legal, moral, and operational arguments surrounding the decision.
Eye in the Sky suits viewers who prefer procedural tension and debate-driven suspense. It asks what decision-makers should do when every available option carries serious consequences. Rotten Tomatoes lists a 95% Tomatometer score.
9. Apocalypse Now Redux (1979 film; 2001 extended cut) — best epic war drama
Francis Ford Coppola’s Vietnam War epic follows Captain Willard as he travels upriver to find Colonel Kurtz. The Redux edition adds substantial material to the original release, creating a longer and more expansive viewing experience.
That distinction matters. The added footage gives the film more texture and context, but some viewers find that it slows the momentum. Choose Redux deliberately if you want the extended version; it is not the best option for someone looking for a short, straightforward war movie.

David Lowery adapts the Arthurian legend of Sir Gawain, who accepts a supernatural challenge and begins a strange, morally testing quest. The film is full of symbolism, haunting landscapes, and deliberately unresolved questions.
This is fantasy for viewers who enjoy mood and interpretation more than conventional heroic adventure. It is beautiful and unusual, but its ambiguity and measured pace may frustrate anyone expecting a simple sword-and-sorcery story. Rotten Tomatoes lists an 88% Tomatometer score.
11. Jules (2023) — best gentle science-fiction dramedy
Jules follows an older man whose quiet routine changes after an extraterrestrial visitor arrives. The resulting story focuses as much on aging, friendship, and community as it does on the science-fiction premise.
Choose it for warm, low-key science fiction rather than spectacle or elaborate effects. It is especially suited to viewers who like films in which an extraordinary event reveals the emotional lives of ordinary people. Rotten Tomatoes lists an 86% Tomatometer score.

12. Arbitrage (2012) — best adult financial thriller
Richard Gere plays a hedge-fund magnate whose polished public image begins to collapse. Financial pressure, personal compromise, and an attempt to control the consequences of a serious mistake drive the story.
Arbitrage is compact and character-focused. It is a good fit if you prefer moral compromise and financial-crime tension to gunfights or elaborate plotting. Rotten Tomatoes lists an 87% Tomatometer score.
13. Zola (2020) — best volatile modern crime story
Based on a viral social-media thread, Zola follows a stripper on a chaotic trip to Florida. The film’s stylized presentation and unstable power dynamics make the journey increasingly uncomfortable and unpredictable.
This is a recommendation for viewers who enjoy abrasive, contemporary crime stories that refuse to become reassuring. It includes sexual content, violence, exploitation, and disturbing situations, so it is worth checking the rating and content details before watching with others. Rotten Tomatoes lists an 88% Tomatometer score.

14. Dances With Wolves (1990) — best long-form western
Kevin Costner’s Civil War-era western follows a soldier who forms a relationship with Lakota people while stationed on the frontier. Its epic landscapes, scale, and extended running time make it a substantial commitment compared with most of the other recommendations here.
The film should be approached with some historical and cultural caution. Rotten Tomatoes’ consensus recognizes its epic achievement while also pointing to its simplistic treatment of the culture it depicts. That limitation does not need to be ignored simply because the movie is influential or visually expansive.
15. Five Nights at Freddy’s (2023) — best game-adaptation pick
A troubled security guard takes a job at Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza and discovers that the restaurant’s animatronic characters are not as harmless as they appear. The movie is primarily aimed at fans of the video-game franchise.
Existing familiarity with the games will likely make the references and mythology more rewarding; viewers who do not know the series may find the story less immediately involving. Expect horror imagery, frightening animatronics, violence, and disturbing material, and check the applicable age rating before watching with children. Rotten Tomatoes notes that the adaptation’s appeal is strongest for fans.

How to find the current free catalog
- Open Fandango at Home on the web, a supported television device, game console, or mobile device.
- Look for the Free to Watch area or choose Browse All Free Titles.
- Search for the movie by title and confirm that the listing is marked free rather than rental or purchase.
- Check the title’s rating, runtime, audio or subtitle options, and device availability before starting.
Fandango’s app description says viewers can stream thousands of free movies and television shows with limited commercials and no subscription requirement. Many free titles can be started without a subscription or sign-up, while account requirements can vary by feature, device, or viewing flow. In other words, do not assume that every app, television, or playback path will present exactly the same sign-in experience.
Where can you watch Fandango at Home?
Fandango’s help information lists Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV, Android TV, Chromecast, Roku, Xfinity Flex and X1, several smart-TV brands, PlayStation 5, Xbox, and mobile devices among supported options. This is a list of device families, not a guarantee that every model, operating-system version, title, resolution, or feature will work identically.
Watching on a television
If your television already supports the Fandango at Home app, extra hardware may not be necessary. Otherwise, a Roku streaming device is one possible way to add a supported streaming platform to a compatible television. Model availability, app support, and playback features can change, so verify the current Fandango help information and the device listing before buying. Disclosure: this is an optional equipment suggestion, not a requirement to use the free catalog.
Fandango’s streaming policy also warns that catalog availability, video quality, device support, concurrent streams, and download limits may change. Do not assume that a particular movie will be available on every listed platform or in a specific resolution.
What if the movie is no longer free?
A title can move between the free, rental, and purchase sections. If one of the recommendations above no longer appears under Free to Watch, use the catalog page to find another current free title rather than assuming the listing is broken. You can also decide whether the movie is worth renting or buying, but that is a separate paid option and is not included in the free-streaming recommendation.
For readers who regularly rent or buy movies outside the free catalog, Fandango also offers digital and physical Fandango at Home gift cards. That is an optional way to pay for the service’s broader rental and purchase selection, not a requirement for watching its free titles.
