What the film follows
Directed by Alyse Walsh and Jackie Jesko, baby/girls follows Olivia, Grace and Ariana as they navigate pregnancy, childbirth and early parenthood while living in a Christian maternity home. The film addresses poverty, addiction, abuse and family histories alongside the young women’s efforts to build futures for themselves and their children. The filmmakers say they filmed over two years.
#1 Best Overall
The documentary premiered at SXSW in March 2026. SXSW lists it as a 94-minute documentary feature in English with English subtitles. Read the SXSW film listing for its program details.
Ariana Green, who the Fayetteville Flyer reports is raising two sons, said: “My biggest pride in the film is being able to tell my story showing that just because you have a kid at a young age doesn’t mean that your life is over.” The quote is from the newspaper’s report.
Discussion after each screening
Each showing is scheduled to include a facilitated community discussion about local resources, partnerships and ways to support young people and families in Arkansas. The film’s official page also invites groups to ask about hosting a screening.
Is the film available to watch at home?
The announced Arkansas dates are in-person events. DOC NYC lists an in-person event on November 15, 2026, and an online festival screening window from November 16 through November 29. Those are festival-specific opportunities; the available listings do not establish general streaming, rental, purchase or physical-media availability. See the DOC NYC listing for its event details.
