Neither show is returning for a new NBC season. NBC canceled Found after two seasons in May 2025, ruling out Season 3 on the network. NBC canceled Brilliant Minds after two seasons on May 1, 2026. The latter decision came after weeks of uncertainty about a possible Season 3, not a renewal of Season 2.
What happened to Found?
NBC canceled Found after two seasons, a decision reported by TVLine on May 9, 2025. The report stated that there would be no Season 3 on NBC. Any earlier language describing the show as awaiting a renewal decision is now outdated.

What happened to Brilliant Minds?
NBC canceled Brilliant Minds after two seasons on May 1, 2026, according to Soap Opera Network. The cancellation ended the possibility of a third season on NBC.
Why readers saw mixed updates
On March 13, 2026, TheWrap reported that NBC had not yet decided whether to order Season 3. At that point, the remaining Season 2 episodes were expected to return in May. That unresolved status was later replaced by the cancellation announcement.

What happened to the remaining episodes?
The cancellation report said six unaired Season 2 episodes were scheduled to begin on May 27, 2026. That scheduling information should not be confused with a renewal: NBC’s decision was to finish the available second-season run, not commission a third season.

Were the cancellations caused by NBC’s changing lineup?
The available reporting does not identify the studio executive suggested by the original headline, provide a verifiable quote from that person, or establish a specific lineup change as the cause. It is therefore not possible to responsibly attribute either cancellation to an unnamed executive or to a single programming move.

Soap Opera Network characterized Brilliant Minds’ second season as having double-digit year-over-year declines and as NBC’s lowest-rated linear drama. That is a secondary-source description; the report did not provide an underlying ratings dataset or a specific figure. It should be read as context from that outlet, not as an independently verified statistic.
What the Season 3 comments do—and do not—mean
In a July 1, 2026 TV Insider interview, showrunner Michael Grassi described story possibilities for a hypothetical third season of Brilliant Minds. Those comments offer retrospective creative context. They are not evidence that NBC was still considering a renewal after the May 1 cancellation.

Quick status comparison
| Series | Seasons completed | NBC decision | Current status |
|---|---|---|---|
| Found | 2 | Canceled; reported May 9, 2025 | No Season 3 on NBC |
| Brilliant Minds | 2 | Canceled; reported May 1, 2026 | No Season 3 on NBC; six remaining Season 2 episodes were scheduled from May 27, 2026 |
Bottom line for viewers
If you are asking whether Found was renewed for Season 3, the answer is no: NBC canceled it in 2025. If you are asking whether Brilliant Minds is coming back for Season 3, the answer is also no: NBC canceled it in 2026 after a period when the decision was still pending. The original “cautious renewal update” framing no longer describes either show’s status.
