Fortnitemares 2026 is Fortnite’s Halloween event across Battle Royale, Horde Rush, and Reload. Epic has announced horror crossovers, new Battle Royale content, returning Horde Rush, and an updated Reload map arriving October 8. Epic’s October 1 announcement does not give the event’s end date or a full quest and reward schedule, so check Fortnite’s current official news and in-game information for updates.
What is Fortnitemares?
Fortnitemares is Fortnite’s seasonal Halloween event. Its modes, items, collaborations, quests, and schedule can change from year to year; previous editions are not a reliable guide to this year’s dates or rewards. For 2026, Epic says the event spans Battle Royale, Horde Rush, and Reload. Epic’s Fortnitemares 2026 announcement was published October 1.
What’s new in Fortnitemares 2026?
Battle Royale: a new POI, Freddy Krueger, and weapons
Epic says players can visit Freaky Fields or the new Nightmare Neighborhood point of interest, where Freddy Krueger is waiting. Defeating him awards Freddy’s Nightmare, which lets players teleport into range and slash opponents.
The announced Battle Royale arsenal includes the new Bonerattler SMG and returning Wood Stake Shotgun and Pumpkin Launcher. Cursed cartridge Overrides can add effects such as sprint invisibility or squad concealment. Five Nights at Freddy’s animatronic bosses also appear, and players can possess them.

Horde Rush and Reload
Horde Rush returns. In Reload, Epic says the updated Nitemare Island arrives October 8, 2026, alongside Stranger Things and Squid Grounds maps. The announcement does not give further details here about map rotation or how long these additions will remain available.
Horror crossovers and Shop outfits
Epic has named Five Nights at Freddy’s, Hazbin Hotel, A Nightmare on Elm Street, Beetlejuice, Obsession, and other collaborations, with new characters coming throughout October. The announcement says Five Nights at Freddy’s outfits showing battle damage are already in the Shop. It also lists additional outfits and accessories due throughout October tied to A Nightmare on Elm Street, Black Clover, Hollow Knight, Hazbin Hotel, The Purge, Slender Man, Beetlejuice, Predator: Badlands, and Universal Studios’ Halloween Horror Nights.
That is not a complete release calendar. Shop availability and drop timing can change, so check Fortnite’s current Shop and official updates rather than assuming an announced item is available now.
When does Fortnitemares 2026 end?
Epic’s October 1, 2026 announcement does not state an end date. It also does not provide a complete 2026 quest list, reward milestones, or event-specific eligibility rules. Check Fortnite’s current official news and the in-game event information for the latest schedule; dates from older Fortnitemares editions do not establish the 2026 schedule.
