Those findings came after the initial announcement of his death. The Los Angeles Times reported that Morris was found dead on May 2, 2024, at a private residence. Its May 8 report said the cause had not yet been determined. The family announced his death on May 4; ESPN’s report that day also said no cause had been given. The later medical examiner findings superseded that early uncertainty.
