#1 Best Overall
If you are searching for the answer to “when can I watch Season 5?”, the practical answer is now: you can watch For All Mankind Season 5 on Apple TV rather than wait for another release announcement. Apple TV’s current listing and Apple TV Press materials are the controlling sources for the season’s availability and schedule.
What Season 5 is about
The fifth season moves the story into the 2010s, several years after the Goldilocks asteroid heist that reshaped the balance between Earth and Mars. Happy Valley has grown from an outpost into a substantial Mars colony populated by thousands of people. It also serves as a staging base for missions farther into the solar system.
That expansion creates the season’s central political and social conflict. Governments on Earth want greater law and order on Mars, while residents of the colony increasingly see themselves as a distinct society with interests that do not always align with those of the people who remain on Earth. The result is a new struggle over authority, identity, and who gets to control humanity’s next frontier.
Apple’s official synopsis frames Season 5 around the growing tension between Earth governments and the people living in the Martian colony. This is a continuation of the show’s larger approach: using an alternate history of the space race to explore the political consequences of technological progress.

Returning and new cast members
The returning ensemble includes:
- Joel Kinnaman
- Toby Kebbell
- Edi Gathegi
- Cynthy Wu
- Coral Peña
- Wrenn Schmidt
Season 5 also adds new regular cast members Mireille Enos, Costa Ronin, Sean Kaufman, Ruby Cruz, and Ines Asserson.
Ronald D. Moore remains part of the show’s core creative team, with Matt Wolpert and Ben Nedivi serving as showrunners and executive producers. The series is produced for Apple by Sony Pictures Television.
Why the 2025 update was so frustrating
The original “frustrating update” came from a July 2025 Collider exclusive based on comments from co-creators Matt Wolpert and Ben Nedivi at San Diego Comic-Con. At that point, the creators would not commit to a 2025 premiere date. Wolpert described the timing as “soon-ish,” but that wording offered no firm month or year that viewers could rely on.
Nedivi attributed some of the slower schedule to the writers’ strike and to the creators’ work on both For All Mankind and the planned spinoff Star City. The comments explained why the wait had become longer than fans expected, but they did not establish a specific 2026 release month.

It is important not to overstate what that interview proved. The creators said they were working on both projects and that the schedule had slowed. They did not say that Star City alone caused a particular delay, and the interview did not confirm that Season 5 would arrive in early, mid, or late 2026. Those more precise claims would be speculation.
How Star City fits into the delay discussion
Apple officially renewed For All Mankind for Season 5 and announced Star City in April 2024. The spinoff is designed to expand the same universe from the perspective of the Soviet space program. Both projects are produced for Apple by Sony Pictures Television.
That announcement confirms that the franchise was developing two major projects at once. It does not, however, provide a shared production calendar or prove that the spinoff directly determined Season 5’s release date. The most defensible conclusion is narrower: the creators were balancing work on both shows, alongside the effects of the writers’ strike, during the period when fans were waiting for a firm Season 5 update.
What happens to the franchise after Season 5?
By March 2026, reporting based on an Apple announcement indicated that For All Mankind had been renewed for a sixth and final season. That gives the original series a defined endpoint beyond Season 5, but it should not be confused with the Season 5 release announcement.

Apple has not established a Season 6 premiere date in the information covered here. The same applies to the release timetable for Star City. Season 5’s schedule is settled; future production and release dates remain separate questions until Apple publishes additional official details.
Can you buy Season 5 on DVD or Blu-ray?
No authoritative Season 5 DVD or Blu-ray release was established in the available research. There was also no verified official Season 5 companion book, merchandise line, or season-specific collectible that would make a physical purchase a reliable recommendation.
For that reason, the dependable viewing option is the Apple TV app rather than an unverified physical-media listing. Be cautious with marketplace pages that describe a DVD, Blu-ray, book, or collectible as “official” without a clear publisher or distributor confirmation.

The headline about a “frustrating update” describes the situation as it stood in July 2025: the creators had declined to promise a 2025 release, and viewers still had no exact date. It is not an accurate description of the current availability.
Best Value
The corrected timeline is straightforward:
- In April 2024, Apple announced Season 5 and Star City without giving Season 5 a premiere date.
- In July 2025, the creators said the timing remained uncertain and that the season would arrive “soon-ish.”
- On February 24, 2026, Apple confirmed a March 27 global premiere and a 10-episode weekly schedule.
- On May 29, 2026, the season concluded with Episode 10, “This Land Is Our Land.”
- Season 5 is now available as a completed season on Apple TV.
For viewers deciding whether to start or resume the series, there is no reason to wait for a release-window announcement: the fifth season has already finished its run.
