LSU reported in May 2026 that she had completed her four-year college career, been selected eighth in the WNBA Draft and traded to Seattle on draft night. She is no longer an LSU player.
From LSU freshman to national champion in 2023
Johnson joined LSU with a music identity already in view: LSU Athletics says she announced her commitment with “All Falls Down,” accompanied by a video featuring Lil Boosie. On the court, she became part of the program’s first women’s NCAA championship team.
LSU’s player record says Johnson started all 36 games in her freshman season, averaging 11.0 points and 5.9 rebounds per game. In the championship game against Iowa, she recorded 10 points, seven rebounds and four assists. She was also named SEC Freshman of the Year. LSU Athletics’ player record provides the season and tournament figures.
How her NCAA Tournament performances changed by season
Johnson’s later tournament achievements belong to separate LSU seasons, not the 2023 title run. In 2024–25, LSU says she averaged 14.9 points, 5.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 2.1 steals per game across the season. In the NCAA Tournament, she scored 24 points and grabbed 12 rebounds against UCLA in the Sweet 16. She averaged a team-high 20.5 points over LSU’s four tournament games that year.

Those numbers capture a later role and a distinct March Madness run. They should not be folded into the account of LSU’s 2023 championship.
A rap career that predates college basketball
Johnson’s music work began before she arrived at LSU. The Associated Press reported that she appeared on America’s Got Talent in 2018 and advanced to the quarterfinals, released her first album, Best of Both Worlds, collaborated with Lil Wayne and hosted a podcast with the album’s name. LSU’s roster describes her as a rapper with a Roc Nation deal.

In a March 2025 AP report during the NCAA Tournament, Johnson drew a clear boundary around her priorities: “I’m not focused on my music, I’m not focused on my podcast, I’m not focused on none of (that) stuff. I’m focused on winning the national championship.” The remark reflected her focus during that tournament, rather than a permanent departure from music.
How Johnson balanced basketball and music
In an interview with PAPER, Johnson described the seasonal tradeoff: “During our season, I don’t get to do a lot of music. I built a studio in my apartment though, so I get to record whenever I want to, which is great.” She said summer gave her more time to work on music. PAPER also reported that her Roc Nation/EQ arrangement was a distribution deal that left her creative control.

The pattern she described was practical: basketball took priority during the season, while a home studio let her record when time allowed and summer opened up more room. The SEC’s February 2026 feature likewise presented hoops as her main priority while discussing her work as a rapper and entrepreneur.
