Ed Sheeran is the best-documented famous Ipswich Town supporter: BBC Sport reported his lifelong support, years of shirt sponsorship and minority stake in the club. Four other celebrities appear on a secondary fan list, but its descriptions are more qualified—two are called part-time fans, and Will Ferrell is linked to both Ipswich and Aston Villa.
Who are Ipswich Town’s famous fans?
These five names have different levels of evidence behind them. BBC Sport documented Sheeran’s support and involvement with Ipswich Town. The other four are identified by C.F. Classics, a secondary roundup that distinguishes between a fan, part-time fans and a dual-club fan.

Ed Sheeran: the clearest connection
BBC Sport reported on 15 August 2024 that Sheeran was a lifelong Ipswich Town fan, had sponsored the club’s shirts since 2021 and had acquired a 1.4% minority stake. The report quoted him saying, “It’s such a joy to be a fan of Ipswich Town.” BBC Sport’s report also makes clear that the stake did not make him a director: Sheeran said he was not a voting shareholder or a board member, and he would not join the board.
His case stands apart from the others here because it combines an explicit statement of support with publicly reported, sustained involvement in the club. The stake is a minority investment, not a claim to control Ipswich Town.

Keith Deller: the Ipswich-born darts champion
C.F. Classics lists former World Darts Champion Keith Deller as an Ipswich fan and says he was born and raised in the town. That is a secondary-source identification; the gathered source does not provide a direct statement from Deller about supporting the club. C.F. Classics’ Ipswich Town fan list

Nigel Havers: described as a part-time fan
The actor Nigel Havers is included by C.F. Classics as a “Part-time Fan.” The list says he developed an attachment to Ipswich while living in the area. That description supports a local connection, not a claim that he is a lifelong or devoted supporter.
Griff Rhys Jones: another part-time fan
C.F. Classics also calls comedian Griff Rhys Jones a “Part-time Fan,” linking his interest to living between homes in London and Suffolk. This is the roundup’s account of his connection; it should not be read as independently verified biography or as evidence of full-time support.
Rank #2

Will Ferrell: Ipswich, or Aston Villa
Ferrell’s inclusion comes with an explicit caveat. C.F. Classics reports that, when asked in 2012 whether he followed football, he replied: “I like football. My club is Ipswich. Or Aston Villa.” That answer makes him a dual-club name on this list, rather than an exclusive Ipswich Town fan. The wording is reported by the secondary roundup; the original interview is not included among the gathered sources.
