Kaitlin Palmieri’s fiancé, Eric, died of a heart attack on the morning of their planned 2020 wedding. Years later, she says, an Instagram birthday tribute led her to a woman who told her she had also dated Eric. The account, reported by PerthNow, describes a painful discovery after loss—but it does not establish the allegations independently.
What happened on the wedding day
PerthNow’s Caitlin Vinci reported on 24 May 2024 that Palmieri and Eric had dated for two years after meeting on a dating app. Eric died from a fatal heart attack on the morning they were due to marry in 2020. They did not marry: he was her fiancé, and he died before the ceremony.
The report also says Palmieri had lost a previous partner, Mike, in 2015, and that Eric had supported her after that bereavement. That history adds context to the scale of the loss described in the account.
How Palmieri says she learned about another relationship
Years after Eric’s death, on what would have been his 37th birthday, Palmieri saw an Instagram tribute to someone with the same name and birthday. She contacted the person who posted it. According to PerthNow, the woman who responded said she had also dated Eric and had met him on a dating app in 2019.

The woman reportedly shared screenshots of flirtatious messages with Palmieri. PerthNow says those messages began seven months before Eric proposed to Palmieri. The report does not reproduce independently reviewed screenshots, include a response from Eric, or otherwise independently corroborate the account. The claims about a parallel relationship should therefore be understood as reported allegations, not established findings.
What Palmieri recalled finding before the wedding
Palmieri also recalled that during the week of the planned wedding she found what she described as “lewd” and “sexual” messages between Eric and another woman, according to PerthNow. The report does not establish whether that woman was the person who later contacted her, so the two accounts should not be conflated.

Grief and anger after the discovery
PerthNow reported that Palmieri described experiencing PTSD, anxiety, and depression and was seeking therapy. These are claims attributed to Palmieri in the report; it does not independently verify a diagnosis or establish that any condition was medically caused by the events.
She described feeling emotionally trapped and having frustration with nowhere to direct it because Eric was gone. Her advice was not to let someone’s death erase the hurt: “You’re allowed to be angry and hurt,” she said, and “Don’t feel like you automatically have to forgive someone because they died.” Those words are Palmieri’s personal perspective, not a universal rule about grief or forgiveness.

This story is based on PerthNow’s report of Palmieri’s account and the other woman’s reported statements. It describes how Palmieri says she came to suspect Eric had been seeing someone else before his death, but the available account does not independently verify the messages or settle every detail of the alleged relationships.
