Yes. You can send a recorded Valorant gameplay file to YouTube Live from a computer or server in India with FFmpeg. FFmpeg reads the file at playback speed and sends it to YouTube’s live ingest; it does not upload the file through YouTube’s regular video-upload interface. You still need YouTube Live access, a configured broadcast, and that broadcast’s private stream key.
Before you start
- A recorded Valorant video file accessible to FFmpeg.
- FFmpeg installed with the
libx264encoder available. Encoder support can vary by build. - YouTube Live access and a broadcast configured in YouTube Live Control Room.
- The current ingest URL and private stream key shown for that broadcast.
- A stable upload connection capable of sustaining the selected video bitrate, plus additional headroom for audio and network variation.
YouTube’s reviewed encoder guidance does not specify a special India-only command, ingest hostname, or bitrate adjustment. Use the ingest details currently shown in Live Control Room rather than copying a server address from an old tutorial. Test from the same Indian connection you intend to use, since routing and sustained upload quality can vary by connection. YouTube’s encoder settings and Live Control Room guidance provide the platform instructions.
Configure YouTube Live and protect your key
- Open YouTube Live Control Room and create or select the broadcast you intend to use.
- Locate the current stream URL and stream key in the encoder setup. Use the RTMPS ingest details supplied there.
- Keep the key private. Do not put a real key in a public article, screenshot, repository, or command example that may be saved or shared. Treat it like an account credential.
- Keep the broadcast private or unlisted while testing, if that suits your needs. Starting FFmpeg sends an ingest stream; it does not by itself make the viewer-facing broadcast public. Confirm the broadcast’s visibility and readiness in YouTube’s controls.
YouTube recommends RTMPS, describing it as RTMP carried through an SSL connection. Its encoder guide supports H.264, H.265, and AV1 over RTMP/RTMPS, up to 60 fps. The command below uses H.264 for a straightforward starting profile. YouTube’s encoder settings are the authority for the ingest values and current supported settings.
Use this FFmpeg command for a 1080p30 starting profile
ffmpeg -re -i "recording.mp4"
-c:v libx264 -preset veryfast -pix_fmt yuv420p
-r 30 -g 60 -keyint_min 60 -sc_threshold 0
-b:v 8M -maxrate 8M -bufsize 16M
-c:a aac -b:a 128k -ar 44100 -ac 2
-f flv "rtmps://YOUR_INGEST_URL/YOUR_STREAM_KEY"
Replace recording.mp4 with your file path, and replace the URL placeholder with the ingest URL and private key from your current Live Control Room setup. Do not run the placeholder literally. The filename, bitrate, frame rate, and ingest address are examples to adapt, not universal values.

What the important options do
-repaces file input in real time. A ten-minute recording therefore takes about ten minutes to send; without real-time pacing, FFmpeg may read and transmit the file faster than playback speed.-iselects the input recording.-c:v libx264encodes video as H.264. The installed FFmpeg build must include this encoder.-preset veryfasttrades some compression efficiency for lower encoding work. If your machine cannot encode steadily, lower the workload or use a suitable preset and verify the output before going live.-pix_fmt yuv420prequests a common pixel format for compatibility.-r 30sets a 30 fps output target. If the source cadence differs, check the result for unwanted duplication or dropped frames.-g 60 -keyint_min 60 -sc_threshold 0targets a 60-frame GOP at 30 fps, corresponding to a two-second keyframe interval, with scene-cut keyframes disabled. YouTube recommends a two-second interval and says not to exceed four seconds.-b:v,-maxrate, and-bufsizeset video-rate controls. The example’s 8 Mbps target is only a starting point; select a bitrate your sustained upload can handle.-c:a aac -b:a 128k -ar 44100 -ac 2encodes stereo AAC audio at 128 kbps and 44.1 kHz.-f flvselects the output container used by this RTMP/RTMPS-style FFmpeg workflow.
YouTube recommends constant bitrate (CBR), AAC or MP3 audio, and a two-second keyframe interval. Its advanced settings include 128 kbps stereo AAC and 44.1 kHz stereo. FFmpeg option availability and behavior can depend on the installed build and encoder; consult the FFmpeg documentation if an option is rejected.
Choose resolution, frame rate, and bitrate for your connection
Pick a target profile that suits both the recording and the stable upload available on the actual connection. YouTube’s figures below are H.264 video bitrate recommendations, not a guarantee that a particular Indian ISP or route will sustain them. Leave capacity beyond the video rate for audio and network variation.

| H.264 target | YouTube minimum video bitrate | YouTube recommended video bitrate | Practical implication |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1080p30 | 5 Mbps | 14 Mbps | The 8 Mbps command target is within the listed range; reduce it if sustained upload cannot support it. |
| 1080p60 | 6 Mbps | 17 Mbps | Use a 60 fps output profile only when the source and connection can support it reliably. |
These values are from YouTube Help’s encoder settings, accessed in 2026. They are video rates; do not treat them as total connection requirements. Test upload capacity rather than relying on download speed, and monitor stream health during a representative test.
Check the recording before encoding
Use ffprobe to inspect resolution, frame rate, audio streams, and pixel format before choosing filters or targets. If the recording’s dimensions or frame rate do not match the intended stream profile, add an explicit scale or frame-rate conversion only after checking the source and deciding the desired output. Files without audio, variable-frame-rate recordings, unusual pixel formats, and source frame rates that do not map cleanly to the target cadence may need a tailored command; the template is not guaranteed to handle every file unchanged.

Start the stream and verify it before sharing
- Run the adapted command from a terminal on the machine holding the recording.
- Watch the terminal for input, encoder, or connection errors. FFmpeg remaining active is necessary, but it does not confirm that YouTube has accepted a healthy broadcast.
- Check the incoming preview and stream health in Live Control Room. YouTube automatically detects encoder settings by default; verify that the received video and audio look and sound right.
- Test with representative movement and audio before relying on the stream. Valorant gameplay has fast motion, so inspect moving scenes for visual quality and confirm the audio is present and synchronized.
- When the preview and health status are acceptable, use YouTube’s broadcast controls to make the viewer-facing stream available as intended.
YouTube recommends testing upload capacity, audio, and moving video before an event. Ingest and the public-facing broadcast are separate parts of YouTube Live; a successful FFmpeg process alone does not establish that the broadcast is public or ready for viewers. See YouTube’s live streaming setup guidance.
Copyright and YouTube Live considerations
Streaming a recording as a live ingest does not change the rights status of its contents. Check that you have the necessary rights to the gameplay recording, music, overlays, and any other included material, and follow YouTube’s applicable copyright rules. For Valorant footage, do not assume that every soundtrack or third-party element in a recording is cleared for a public stream. Account access, monetization eligibility, and availability depend on current YouTube conditions; this workflow does not guarantee them.

Also consider whether a live presentation is the right format for a prerecorded file. Clearly describe the content to viewers and avoid implying that recorded gameplay is a current match or live camera capture. For a channel that repeatedly streams pre-recorded material, review YouTube’s policies on reused content and monetization separately; technical ability to ingest a file does not establish policy eligibility.

| Symptom | Likely cause | What to check or change |
|---|---|---|
| FFmpeg says the encoder or option is unavailable | The installed build lacks libx264 or does not support an option as written. |
Check the build’s encoder and option support; install or use a build that includes the required encoder, or adapt the command to an available supported encoder. |
| YouTube does not receive the stream | Wrong or stale ingest URL, incorrect key, broadcast not configured, or connection failure. | Copy the current URL and key from the selected Live Control Room broadcast; verify the key has no accidental spaces and keep it private. |
| Connection drops or stream health degrades | Upload rate is unstable or the chosen bitrate leaves insufficient headroom. | Test sustained upload from the actual connection, lower the video bitrate, and check YouTube’s stream health rather than a download-speed result. |
| Video arrives too quickly | Input is not paced in real time. | Include -re before the input so FFmpeg reads the file at playback speed. |
| No audio or an audio mapping error | The recording has no audio stream, or its audio format needs different handling. | Inspect streams with ffprobe; adapt audio options for the file or omit audio encoding when there is no audio, while ensuring the output is accepted by YouTube. |
| Unexpected judder, frame duplication, or poor motion | Source frame rate is variable or differs from the forced output rate. | Inspect the source cadence and choose an intentional output frame rate and conversion method instead of assuming -r 30 fits every recording. |
| Picture is rejected or appears wrong | Unusual source dimensions, pixel format, or scaling behavior. | Inspect the source with ffprobe, then explicitly set a compatible scale and pixel format appropriate to the desired profile. |
| FFmpeg is running but the broadcast is not public | Ingest has begun, but the viewer-facing YouTube broadcast state or visibility has not been set. | Check the broadcast preview, health, visibility, and go-live controls in Live Control Room. |
