CES 2026

Fender Audio’s Debut MIX Headphones and ELIE Speakers Are Promising—but Not Proven Yet

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Fender Audio’s first current-generation consumer products make a credible first impression because they add musician-focused connections and modular hardware to features normally found in premium wireless audio. The MIX headphones, ELIE 6, and ELIE 12 are more than Fender-branded Bluetooth accessories, but the available evidence is still an early demonstration rather than a definitive ownership review.

What Fender Audio actually launched

Fender announced this lineup ahead of CES 2026 as Fender Audio’s entry into premium personal and portable consumer audio. That wording matters: Fender Musical Instruments has long sold amplifiers, headphone amplifiers, PA equipment, and other music products, but these are the current Fender Audio consumer models.

Product What it is Listed U.S. price Best-fit use
MIX Modular wireless over-ear headphones with hybrid ANC and an included FWD Tx USB-C transmitter About $299 at launch, according to CES coverage; confirm the current checkout price Wireless listening, gaming, video, and creator use
ELIE 6 60W portable speaker with XLR/¼-inch input, Bluetooth, and low-latency wireless channels $299 on Fender’s U.S. product page Small performances, rehearsal, creators, and portable music
ELIE 12 120W portable speaker with dual driver arrays, XLR/¼-inch input, and wireless pairing $399 on Fender’s U.S. product page Larger rooms, presentations, and louder playback

Fender Audio is identified as a consumer-electronics brand owned by Fender Musical Instruments Corporation and operated under license by Singapore-based Riffsound Pte. Ltd. That distinction is relevant to support, manufacturing, and software responsibility. Fender Audio’s company information and its December 3, 2025 launch announcement describe the relationship and debut context.

Why this launch is more interesting than a normal brand extension

The argument for these products is not that a guitar company automatically makes better consumer audio. It is that Fender has carried several practical musician ideas into familiar categories.

Fender Audio Mix Over Ear Wireless Headphones w/Active Noise Cancellation
  • Built on Fender Sound: MIX over ear Bluetooth wireless headphones with mic combine lossless audio, hybrid active noise cancelling (ANC), spatial audio, and a fully modular design for music lovers, gamers, and anyone who wants to hear every detail.
  • 100 Hours of Playback, Built to Last: The replaceable battery in the MIX active noise cancelling headphones give you up to 100 hours without ANC, 52 hours with ANC, and deliver an hour of playback on only 15 minutes charge.
  • Three Audio Modes, One Transmitter: The FWD Tx USB-C wireless transmitter in these over the ear headphones unlocks pure, high-fidelity sound in any situation with Lossless (96kHz/24-bit), Low Latency (under 20ms for gaming), and Auracast modes for.
  • Hybrid ANC & 360° Spatial Audio: With these low latency headphones you get active noise cancellation (ANC) that blocks out distractions while spatial audio wraps you in a fully immersive, 360° listening experience.
  • Modular Design, Fully Your Own: Swap, mix, and match the components for a personalized look and feel. Fully serviceable and upgradeable, with a swappable battery, these lossless headphones are built to evolve with you over time.
  • The ELIE speakers accept microphones, instruments, and line-level sources through an XLR/¼-inch combo input.
  • Both speaker models offer low-latency wireless channels as well as Bluetooth.
  • MIX is designed around replaceable or interchangeable components rather than a permanently sealed construction.
  • The included transmitter offers a dedicated path for Fender’s lossless-capable and low-latency modes.
  • The styling references Fender’s instrument identity without simply turning a guitar amplifier into a Bluetooth box.

Fender says the ELIE speakers can handle up to four audio channels at once, combining Bluetooth, wired input, and additional wireless channels. That makes them potentially useful as compact multi-input systems, not just music players. The “best-in-class,” “studio-grade,” and similar language on Fender’s pages remains manufacturer positioning, not independent measurement.

MIX headphones: the genuinely unusual features

Modular construction and the battery question

Fender describes MIX as modular, serviceable, and customizable. The early CES report observed detachable bands, earcups, and a removable battery. That could extend the useful life of the headphones, but modular design is not the same as a guaranteed low-cost repair program.

The currently available information does not establish which replacement parts Fender sells directly, what they cost, whether every part can be changed without tools, or whether opening the headphones affects warranty coverage. Buyers should verify those details before treating modularity as a proven financial advantage.

Transmitter-based lossless and low-latency modes

The included FWD Tx USB-C transmitter is the most distinctive part of MIX’s wireless proposition. Fender specifies up to 96kHz/24-bit wireless audio in lossless mode and latency below 20ms in low-latency mode. Auracast broadcast audio is also listed.

  • Modular Design, Fully Your Own: Swap, mix, and match the components for a personalized look and feel. Fully serviceable and upgradeable, with a swappable battery, these lossless headphones are built to evolve with you over time.

Those are capabilities under Fender’s stated setup, not a promise that every phone, laptop, application, or Bluetooth connection will deliver 96kHz/24-bit audio. The source must support the relevant path, the transmitter must be selected, the software must avoid unwanted resampling, and the source recording must actually be lossless. Ordinary Bluetooth operation is not automatically equivalent to transmitter mode. Interference can also produce dropouts or a fallback to another mode.

Battery claims and charging

Condition Fender’s stated MIX figure
ANC off Up to 100 hours
ANC on Up to 52 hours
15-minute quick charge Approximately 14 hours with ANC off or 8 hours with ANC on

Fender says these battery tests use approximately 50% volume. ANC, volume, codec, transmitter use, spatial audio, calls, and temperature can all reduce real-world endurance. The figures are therefore manufacturer claims, not independently verified runtime.

Comfort, wired use, and everyday compromises

MIX weighs 330g (0.73lb), uses memory-foam ear cushions, and has an adjustable headband. That feature set may be comfortable, but 330g is not especially light among wireless over-ear headphones. The CES listening session does not establish comfort over an entire workday or a long flight.

USB-C audio and a 3.5mm AUX connection are included. In passive 3.5mm mode, Fender says ANC, DSP, and the internal DAC are inactive. Wired playback therefore remains a useful fallback, but it will not necessarily sound or function like powered wireless or USB-C operation.

MIX lists Bluetooth 5.3, SBC, AAC, LC3, and LHDC support, dual microphones with ENC, 40mm graphene drivers, hybrid ANC, and a one-year warranty subject to local law. Fender also lists security-update support from 2026 through 2029. Specifications and support details appear on the official MIX page, with warranty terms at Fender Audio’s warranty page and update information at its security-update page.

ELIE speakers are more than Bluetooth boxes

Inputs for microphones and instruments

Both ELIE models include an XLR/¼-inch combo input for microphones, line-level sources, and instruments. Fender says condenser microphones can use 48V phantom power, while a PAD button reduces hot input signals by 14dB.

That opens several plausible uses:

  • Portable music playback.
  • A compact rehearsal or small-performance system.
  • Microphone amplification for a presentation or creator setup.
  • Instrument playback where a conventional Bluetooth speaker would have no suitable input.

Input support alone does not prove that either model replaces a dedicated guitar amplifier, PA, or studio monitor. Gain structure, feedback resistance, voicing, and instrument-specific performance still require testing. Use phantom power only with an appropriate condenser microphone, engage PAD for signals that overload the input, and keep microphone and instrument gain under control.

ELIE 6 versus ELIE 12

Specification ELIE 6 ELIE 12
Listed output 60W 120W
Driver arrangement Full-range driver, tweeter, subwoofer Two full-range drivers, two tweeters, two subwoofers
Claimed battery life 18 hours 15 hours
Weight 3.95lb / 1.79kg 8.75lb / 3.97kg
Listed maximum SPL 96dB at 1m 101dB at 1m
Charging claim 15 minutes for approximately 1.5 hours of play 15 minutes for approximately 2 hours of play
Protection IP54 IP54
U.S. price $299 $399

The ELIE 6 specifications and ELIE 12 specifications show why the larger model is not simply “better.” ELIE 12 doubles the listed output and raises the stated SPL, but it weighs more than twice as much and has shorter claimed battery life. Choose according to room size, transport, and required headroom.

Pairing, charging, and weather limits

Fender lists single-speaker, stereo left/right, and multi-speaker modes, with up to 100 speakers claimed in multi mode. That maximum is a manufacturer specification; synchronization, range, and stability in a real 100-speaker installation have not been independently established.

Both models support Bluetooth 5.3, 3.5mm AUX output, reverse charging through USB-C/12V, and IP54 protection. IP54 means limited dust protection and resistance to water splashes. It does not mean submersible or waterproof: keep the speakers away from pools, water jets, immersion, and prolonged heavy rain.

Charging hardware can also affect use. Fender says lower-power chargers may limit playback to about 70% of maximum volume while charging. Use at least a 20W adapter for ELIE 6 and a 30W adapter for ELIE 12. ELIE 12 additionally lists MaxxAudio, MaxxBass, and Nx3D spatial-audio processing.

What the first hands-on report actually establishes

A January 2026 CES report found MIX impressive during a brief demonstration, praised its modular construction and transmitter-based modes, and described the ELIE speakers as good-sounding with distinctive styling and unusual XLR capability. It also reported a $299 launch price for MIX. The report itself makes clear that the listening session lasted less than an hour.

  • Ultimate Portable Guitar Amplifier for Practice and Recording – Compact design ideal for bedroom practice, silent rehearsals, on-the-go jamming, and mobile recording; plug in and play instantly with factory presets

That is enough to support “promising first impression.” It is not enough to establish long-term comfort, ANC effectiveness, call quality, actual battery runtime, maximum-volume distortion, bass extension, wireless stability in congested spaces, durability, or replacement-part economics. Those questions remain open until independent testing and extended ownership evidence are available.

Which product fits which buyer?

If you prioritize… Most logical choice Why
Modularity, very long claimed battery life, and transmitter-based low latency MIX Its replaceable-component design, FWD Tx transmitter, ANC, USB-C, and 3.5mm options target those needs.
Portable musician connectivity at the lowest weight ELIE 6 It provides the XLR/¼-inch input and 60W output at 3.95lb.
More output and larger-room coverage ELIE 12 Its 120W rating, higher listed SPL, and larger driver complement provide more stated headroom.
Proven ANC, call quality, measured response, or long-term reliability Wait for independent testing The current evidence is a launch specification set and a short CES demonstration.

MIX makes sense for

  • Listeners and creators who value serviceable or customizable hardware.
  • Gamers and video viewers who can use a transmitter-based low-latency path.
  • Users who need both wireless and wired connections.
  • Fender fans willing to pay for unusual features rather than the badge alone.

It is a weaker fit for buyers seeking the lightest headphones, independently proven call performance, or a passive wired mode that preserves ANC and DSP.

ELIE 6 makes sense for

  • Bedroom musicians, buskers, presenters, and small gatherings.
  • Creators who need microphone or instrument input.
  • People who can carry 3.95lb and do not need the deepest bass or highest output.

A conventional Bluetooth speaker may offer better value if those inputs are irrelevant, and IP54 should not be mistaken for outdoor waterproofing.

ELIE 12 makes sense for

  • Performers and presenters working in larger spaces.
  • Listeners who need more output and multiple inputs.
  • Buyers considering stereo pairing and willing to transport an 8.75lb speaker.

It is excessive for casual background listening and less attractive to travelers who value weight or longer battery endurance over output.

What remains unverified before calling them class-leading

  • Independent frequency-response, distortion, and maximum-output measurements.
  • Real-world ANC performance and microphone quality in traffic or wind.
  • Battery runtime with ANC, transmitter use, spatial processing, and high volume.
  • Availability, pricing, tools, and warranty treatment for replacement MIX modules.
  • App, firmware, and customer-support experience.
  • Range and synchronization for ELIE multi-speaker mode and MIX Auracast.
  • Feedback resistance and practical instrument/microphone performance.
  • Durability beyond the stated IP54 protection.

Fender’s warranty page generally specifies one year from retail purchase, subject to local law, and identifies batteries and ear pads as wear-and-tear items. That makes it especially important to confirm replacement-part access before buying MIX for long-term serviceability.

Verdict

Fender Audio has earned attention because MIX, ELIE 6, and ELIE 12 are not generic lifestyle products with a familiar logo. Their strongest case is the combination of premium wireless features with musician-friendly I/O: a transmitter for lossless-capable and low-latency listening, modular headphone hardware, and portable speakers that accept microphones and instruments.

The CES demonstration supports an encouraging first impression, not a final performance verdict. At these prices—about $299 for MIX at launch, $299 for ELIE 6, and $399 for ELIE 12—the products must justify themselves through those distinctive functions. Buyers who need those functions have a credible reason to look closely; buyers who primarily want proven ANC, calls, waterproofing, or conventional Bluetooth value should wait for independent testing or compare more established alternatives.
