Spoilers for all three original Netflix Fear Street films. The story’s chronological order is 1666 → 1978 → 1994, but the trilogy presents those eras in reverse: Fear Street Part 1: 1994, Part 2: 1978, then Part 3: 1666. The 1666 chapter reveals the truth about Sarah Fier; Camp Nightwing anchors the 1978 events; and the 1994 teenagers investigate whether generations of Shadyside terror are connected. Netflix describes the trilogy as spanning over 300 years. Netflix’s trilogy overview
What order should you watch the Fear Street movies?
Watch the original trilogy in its release and reveal order: Fear Street Part 1: 1994, Fear Street Part 2: 1978, and Fear Street Part 3: 1666. That sequence starts with the modern mystery and then moves backward to disclose its earlier history. If you are arranging events by when they happen in the story, reverse the years: 1666, 1978, 1994.

Netflix frames the trilogy as three connected stories unfolding across over 300 years, while its official 1994 description introduces teenagers who discover that generations of terror in Shadyside may be connected. The films are not direct adaptations of individual books in R.L. Stine’s Fear Street series. Netflix’s account of the trilogy explains the adaptation boundary.
The Fear Street story timeline, in chronological order
1666: Sarah Fier and the origin revelation
Fear Street Part 3: 1666 takes Deena into Shadyside’s past, where she learns the truth about Sarah Fier. This is the trilogy’s earliest dated chapter and the key origin/revelation point for understanding the connections the later films investigate. Netflix describes the installment as a night when history comes full circle and Shadysiders’ lives change. Netflix’s official Part 3 page

1978: Camp Nightwing
Fear Street Part 2: 1978 shifts to Camp Nightwing. The camp’s events form the middle chronological anchor: they occur after the 1666 revelation and before the 1994 investigation. Netflix identifies the year and camp in its official description. Netflix’s official Part 2 page
1994: the investigation and its consequences
Fear Street Part 1: 1994 is the audience’s entry point, even though it is last in the trilogy’s in-world sequence. Its teenagers investigate whether Shadyside’s recurring horrors are linked across generations. Netflix’s description establishes that connection as the central premise, without supplying a complete historical event-by-event chronology. Netflix’s official Part 1 page

Who is the killer in Fear Street?
Sarah Fier is central to the 1666 revelation, but the trilogy’s official summaries do not provide a complete canonical roster of every historical killer, alias, victim, or kill count. They establish the broad connection among the three eras, not an exhaustive reference list. A precise killer-by-killer account requires checking the films themselves and distinguishing what is confirmed on screen from Shadyside rumor, deception, or interpretation.
That distinction matters because the trilogy’s mystery is built around how Shadyside understands its violence versus what its history reveals. A town’s accusation or legend should not automatically be treated as the film’s final explanation. For names and event details, use the films’ on-screen context rather than presenting an unverified fan chronology as definitive.

Does Fear Street: Prom Queen fit this timeline?
Netflix presents Fear Street: Prom Queen as its own Shadyside story involving a masked killer. Its coverage also notes a post-credits visual reference recognizable from the original trilogy, but does not establish the film as another event in the original 1666–1978–1994 sequence. Treat it as later franchise context, not as a dated chapter in the trilogy’s timeline. Netflix’s Prom Queen coverage
