Spoiler: The November 30, 2025 preview of FBI expected Isobel Castille to become Assistant Director in Charge (ADIC). But in “Fadeaway,” which aired December 1, Isobel turned down the promotion and stayed with her New York team as Special Agent in Charge (SAC). Actor Alana De La Garza told TV Insider that the case and what she saw happening to Jubal helped Isobel recognize where she wanted to be.
What changed from the preview to the episode?
The pre-air coverage described Isobel preparing to take the ADIC job and choose a successor for her SAC position. Her first choice was Assistant Special Agent in Charge (ASAC) Jubal Valentine, though leadership had reservations about his candidacy because of his suspensions and conflicts.
CBS’s official episode listing identifies “Fadeaway” as Season 8, Episode 7, and frames Isobel’s succession decision around her expected move. The episode’s outcome reversed that expectation: Isobel declined the ADIC post and remained SAC.
Why did Isobel decide to stay?
De La Garza said the explosion investigation and Isobel’s work alongside the team reminded her that she might already be where she needed to be. Isobel also objected to AD Ropac’s treatment of Jubal, adding a personal dimension to the choice. The decision is presented as Isobel’s response to the case and her team, not as a general statement about real FBI promotion practices.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Asked about possible consequences, De La Garza told TV Insider: “I think there is always potential for fallout but Isobel tends to stay focused on the task at hand and not what others are thinking about her choices.”
What happens to Isobel’s SAC position?
Because Isobel declined the promotion, the planned succession question no longer applies as it was framed before the episode aired. The available post-air coverage does not establish who, if anyone, ultimately filled the SAC position or what Isobel’s role is in later episodes; it would be premature to name a successor based on the preview alone.
