Spoilers for the Season 2 finale, “The Strip.” Lucy stops Hank’s immediate mind-control operation, but his memory wipe leaves his larger plan unanswered. The Ghoul finds Barb and Janey’s cryopods empty and heads toward Colorado. Meanwhile, the Legion, NCR, and House’s interests converge on New Vegas, and the finale tees up a Brotherhood plan involving Liberty Prime Alpha. Amazon has confirmed Season 3, but has not announced its release date.
What happens to Lucy and Hank?
Lucy shuts down the mainframe tied to Hank’s memory-altering system and confronts him. The mainframe is connected to Representative Diane Welch’s severed head. Hank describes a modified device designed to leave a small scar while changing a person’s personality, but before Lucy can learn what he ultimately intends, he wipes his own memory. His immediate operation is stopped; his wider plan is not explained. TheWrap’s finale interview and TIME’s finale recap both describe the memory wipe and the unanswered questions it leaves behind.

The showrunner says Lucy’s refusal to abandon Hank could open new story possibilities, but the finale does not confirm what she will do next or what Hank might become after the wipe.
Are Barb and Janey alive? Why does the Ghoul go to Colorado?
The Ghoul reaches the vault holding his wife and daughter’s cryogenic chambers and finds both pods empty. He discovers a postcard from Barb pointing to Colorado and sets out in that direction, taking the clue as a reason to keep looking for his family. Their current location and condition are not confirmed, so the empty pods and postcard do not prove that either is alive.
#1 Best Overall
In TheWrap interview, showrunner Geneva Robertson-Dworet describes Colorado as a planned destination while allowing that the journey could be diverted. She also raises the unresolved question of why the family may have been moved there.
Who is preparing to fight over New Vegas?
After fighting Deathclaws while trying to protect people in the city, Maximus is rescued by NCR forces. He reunites with Lucy, and the two watch the Legion advance from the Lucky 38. The finale positions the Legion and NCR against one another while House’s interests remain part of the struggle for New Vegas; it does not show who wins or establish the city’s future political order.

Robertson-Dworet describes New Vegas as a rare, relatively preserved city because House’s missiles spared it from the worst of the bombs. That makes it a prize worth contesting, but the show has not resolved the factions’ conflict. TheWrap’s interview discusses the city and the factions’ renewed competition; TIME’s recap recounts the NCR rescue and the final view from the Lucky 38.
What does Steph’s “Phase Two” message mean?
The finale reveals Steph’s connection to Hank. Using a Pip-Boy, she sends the message “initiate phase two” to a large remote facility. The episode does not identify the facility’s operator or explain its objective, nor does it spell out how the signal relates to the vault experiment.

Robertson-Dworet has identified the Enclave, Phase Two, and FEV as major Season 3 subjects, and expressed interest in exploring how vault events might connect to FEV-made creatures on the surface. That confirms the topics the series intends to explore, not a specific cause-and-effect link between Steph’s signal and the creatures. TheWrap and TIME discuss the finale’s setup and the showrunner’s comments.
What does the Liberty Prime Alpha tag set up?
In the post-credits scene, Quintus receives blueprints marked Liberty Prime Alpha. Robertson-Dworet says Quintus intends to find or build it, but first has to win his war. The tag sets up a Brotherhood objective for Season 3; it does not establish that the giant robot is already built or assembled. TheWrap’s interview addresses Quintus’s plan.

Does the finale make a Fallout: New Vegas ending canon?
No. The series has not confirmed one of the game’s endings as the canonical outcome. The game offers routes associated with Legion, NCR, House, and Yes Man, but those choices are not Season 3 predictions. The showrunner says the creators want players’ experiences to remain compatible with the series as much as possible. Fallout creator Todd Howard has also described telling the story from the perspective of people in the world, where accounts can conflict. House’s role and the faction imagery are clues to the series’ story, not proof that the show has selected a game ending. TheWrap reports Robertson-Dworet’s comments, and GamesRadar+ summarizes the game’s four broad ending routes.
