Alix Blackburn’s Tom’s Guide review praises its brisk tension and action, while warning that its plot turns can be predictable and its script comparatively weak. Netflix lists the film, but availability varies by country, so check your local catalog.
What is Exterritorial about?
Netflix’s official synopsis sets up the film this way: “When her son vanishes inside a US consulate, ex-special forces soldier Sara does everything in her power to find him — and uncovers a dark conspiracy.” The story takes place at the U.S. consulate in Frankfurt. In Blackburn’s account, Sara’s search becomes more unnerving when authorities insist her son was never there.

Jeanne Goursaud plays Sara. Dougray Scott plays regional security officer Erik Kynch, according to Blackburn’s review. Christian Zübert directed the film, also credited by Tom’s Guide.
Is it worth watching?
Blackburn’s review makes the case for Exterritorial as a fast, tense action watch rather than a particularly original or deep thriller. The review highlights the movie’s pace, tension-building and action sequences, as well as Goursaud’s mix of strength and vulnerability and Scott’s calm menace. Blackburn compares its missing-child setup with Taken.

The trade-off is that some twists may be easy to anticipate, and Blackburn considers the script weaker than the film’s momentum. The review also questions how long the movie will stay with viewers after the action ends. Those are one critic’s opinions, not a consensus rating or a measure of audience response.
- Best fit: Viewers after a contained, high-pressure chase with action and suspense.
- Potential drawback: Viewers who prioritize surprising plotting or deeper character development may find it less satisfying.
