What is Extant about?
Created by Mickey Fisher and produced by Steven Spielberg, Extant begins with astronaut Molly Woods returning to Earth after a 13-month solo mission. She discovers she is pregnant, despite having been alone in space. The mystery surrounding that pregnancy becomes entangled with her family life: Molly’s husband, John Woods, is a robotics engineer, and their son Ethan is a prototype humanoid robot being raised as their child.

Netflix availability is time- and country-dependent
Netflix Tudum reported both seasons on Netflix in August 2025, but that historical listing does not establish current access. As of October 8, 2026, the U.S. availability listing points to Paramount+ services, while Netflix’s catalog page displays a country-specific unavailability notice. Check Netflix in your own region rather than relying on an older announcement.
Streaming subscription or purchase?
The same U.S. JustWatch listing reports DVD and Blu-ray purchase options, as well as digital purchase through Amazon Video. Those are alternatives to subscription streaming if you want to own the series. Retailer stock, edition contents and price can change, so confirm the exact listing before buying.
