The month’s biggest scripted premieres were The Pickup on August 6, Butterfly and Sausage Party: Foodtopia season 2 on August 13, The Map That Leads to You on August 20, Upload season 4 on August 25, and The Terminal List: Dark Wolf on August 27.
One important timing detail: The Summer I Turned Pretty season 3 was not an August premiere. Its 11-episode final season began on July 16, 2025, and continued with weekly episodes throughout August before concluding on September 17.
Prime Video’s biggest August 2025 releases
The most notable scripted releases were spread across the month rather than concentrated on one launch day. Here is the short version of what mattered most.
- August 6 — The Pickup: Eddie Murphy, Pete Davidson and Keke Palmer lead an action-heist comedy about armored-truck drivers caught in an ambush. Amazon described it as a Prime Video debut.
- August 13 — Butterfly: This six-episode spy thriller stars Daniel Dae Kim as David Jung, a former U.S. intelligence operative living in South Korea whose past catches up with him.
- August 13 — Sausage Party: Foodtopia season 2: Frank, Barry and Sammy return in the animated comedy, beginning the new season in exile in New Foodland.
- August 15 — Betty la Fea: La Historia Continúa season 2: The international hit continued Betty and Armando’s story with a second season.
- August 20 — The Map That Leads to You: Madelyn Cline and K.J. Apa star in this romantic drama adapted from J.P. Monninger’s novel.
- August 25 — Upload season 4: The fourth season consists of four episodes and serves as the science-fiction comedy’s series finale.
- August 27 — The Terminal List: Dark Wolf: Taylor Kitsch plays Ben Edwards in this prequel series about his path from Navy SEAL to CIA Special Operations. Chris Pratt returns as James Reece.
- August 30 — Hannibal seasons 1–3: All three seasons of the acclaimed NBC series were listed as joining Prime Video.
What happened with The Summer I Turned Pretty season 3?
The Summer I Turned Pretty season 3 was the month’s major returning-series event, even though it arrived before August. Amazon ordered 11 episodes for the third and final season and released the season globally on Prime Video.

The novels are the source material, not a novelization of the television season, and specific editions, prices and availability can change.

What to know before looking for these titles
- This is a U.S.-focused calendar. Prime Video’s monthly catalog is territory-specific. A title listed for the United States may not appear in another country’s library on the same date; Amazon’s Australia schedule, for example, is separately organized.
- Not every listing has the same access method. Depending on the title and the viewer’s location, a listing may be included with Prime, require an add-on channel, or be offered separately for purchase or rental.
- Release dates are not necessarily worldwide dates. Licensing windows, subscription tiers and local rights can change both the date and the way a title is presented.
- Check the title page for current status. The schedule records the announced August dates, but catalog availability is volatile. A title can later leave the service or move between included, channel and transactional availability.
- Sports availability is especially rights-dependent. Live events can have different regional restrictions and may not follow the same catalog rules as on-demand movies and series.
Best starting points by viewing mood
- For a new action-comedy: Start with The Pickup.
- For serialized espionage: Choose Butterfly.
- For a franchise prequel: Try The Terminal List: Dark Wolf.
- For a completed science-fiction comedy: Upload season 4 provides the four-episode conclusion.
- For a major returning young-adult drama: Catch up with the weekly run of The Summer I Turned Pretty season 3, remembering that its premiere was July 16 rather than August.
- For older catalog films: August 1 is the main binge day, with titles ranging from Blow Out, Raging Bull and Pulp Fiction to Love Actually, Transformers and Death Becomes Her.
