For the clearest, spoiler-aware watch-through, follow release order: the four original-era films, the 2010 film, all six seasons of Cobra Kai, then Karate Kid: Legends (2025). “Chronological order” can also mean in-universe timeline, but the official sources cited here do not establish a complete episode-by-episode chronology. Release order is the practical sequence to use.
Every Karate Kid movie and series in watch order
- The Karate Kid (1984)
- The Karate Kid: Part II (1986)
- The Karate Kid: Part III (1989)
- The Next Karate Kid (1994)
- The Karate Kid (2010)
- Cobra Kai (2018–2025), seasons 1–6
- Karate Kid: Legends (2025)
Sony’s official pages identify the original films’ release years and list Karate Kid: Legends as a 2025 film. Sony’s page for The Karate Kid and its Legends page provide the official film information.
How the stories connect
The original films lead into Cobra Kai
Cobra Kai revisits Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio) and Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka), the rivals from the 1984 film. Netflix described the series as taking place 30 years after the 1984 All Valley Karate Tournament, following Daniel’s life and Johnny’s effort to redeem himself. Sony’s current series page describes events more than 30 years after the tournament and identifies Season 6 as streaming on Netflix.
The 2010 film is a separate story
The 2010 The Karate Kid shares its title with the 1984 original but tells a separate story. The available official information does not establish where its events fall on the original films’ in-universe timeline, so it belongs in this practical watch order by release date rather than as a claimed continuation of Daniel’s story.

- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Legends connects Daniel and Mr. Han
Karate Kid: Legends brings Daniel LaRusso and Mr. Han (Jackie Chan) together to guide Li Fong (Ben Wang). Sony’s synopsis frames the story around those characters and their martial-arts traditions; it does not provide a precise in-universe date for the 2010 film’s events.
Is Cobra Kai finished?
Yes. Netflix announced that the final installment, Season 6, Part 3, would arrive on February 13, 2025. The series is complete, so viewers can watch all six seasons before moving on to Karate Kid: Legends.

Netflix’s announcement described Cobra Kai as taking place 30 years after the original tournament. That is a broad narrative placement, not a season-by-season timeline; this sequence does not try to sort individual episodes by exact story date.
Why release order is the safest choice
Release order preserves the way the franchise’s stories and returning characters were introduced, and it avoids inventing dates for stories whose precise placement is not established in the official sources cited here. If you are looking for a strict in-universe chronology, the available information is not enough to responsibly rearrange every film and episode. The list above covers the core theatrical films and Cobra Kai, not animated adaptations or other licensed material.

Where to watch
Netflix identifies itself as the streaming home for Cobra Kai. Streaming availability for the films can vary by country and change over time, so check local services for current listings. Sony lists Karate Kid: Legends on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and digital, and Cobra Kai Seasons 1 and 2 on DVD; those listings do not establish that a single collection contains every title.
