Yahiko is the first Akatsuki figure in this chronology to die. Among the major members in the group’s later Part II campaign, Sasori is the first to die. The full order below distinguishes confirmed deaths from Hidan’s permanent incapacitation and Black Zetsu’s sealing. Spoilers for Naruto follow.
Who is included in this Akatsuki death order?
This chronology covers the principal Akatsuki figures shown in Naruto, including Yahiko, whose death came before Nagato took over the organization. It also includes White Zetsu and Black Zetsu, whose endings differ from ordinary deaths. Orochimaru was a former affiliate who survived, so he is not placed in the order.

Every Akatsuki member in the order they died
-
Yahiko — dies before Nagato’s takeover
Yahiko co-founded the original Akatsuki with Nagato and Konan. His death predates the criminal incarnation of the organization and is the event after which Nagato takes control.
-
Sasori of the Red Sand — killed by Chiyo’s strike
During his fight with Sakura and Chiyo, Sasori allows Chiyo to strike the scroll representing his preserved heart. The blow kills him, making him the first major Akatsuki member to die in Part II.

Naruto’s Rasenshuriken destroys Kakuzu’s last remaining heart. Kakashi delivers the finishing blow.

Hidan — buried alive and permanently incapacitated
Shikamaru blows Hidan apart and buries his remains. Hidan is still speaking when buried, and this account does not confirm that he dies. His place here is therefore a permanent neutralization, not a confirmed death.

Quick Recap

Why some entries are not straightforward deaths
- Hidan: He is buried while still speaking, so the ending establishes that he is incapacitated, not that he is definitively dead.
- Black Zetsu: His ending is sealing and containment, not a confirmed death.
- Obito: His body crumbles after the Infinite Tsukuyomi ends; that wording should not be collapsed into the same kind of event as Sasori’s or Kisame’s death.
