Eva Pilgrim became Inside Edition’s anchor on August 18, 2025, succeeding Deborah Norville after Norville’s 30 years in the role. Pilgrim has said she is interested in bringing more mystery stories to the program and has floated food coverage, but she has not announced a finalized slate of changes. That makes “revolutionizing” too strong a description of what is currently established: the transition marks a new chapter, while the show’s direction remains to be seen.
What Eva Pilgrim said she might change
In an August 19, 2025 interview with CBS Mornings, Pilgrim described arriving with many ideas but also said people close to her urged her to take the first months one step at a time. She said she hoped to do more mystery coverage, drawing on a subject she had covered for years, and added, “Maybe something with food would be fun. I love the mysteries.” She also said, “I have a bazillion ideas in my head.” CBS Mornings interview and transcript
Those comments describe interests and possibilities, not a confirmed programming plan. Pilgrim did not identify specific new segments or say that the show’s format had already changed.
When Pilgrim took over—and who she succeeded
CBS Media Ventures announced Pilgrim’s appointment on July 7, 2025. She began anchoring on August 18, 2025, becoming the program’s fourth anchor. Deborah Norville left after 30 years as anchor; that figure refers to her tenure, not the age of the show. CBS Media Ventures appointment announcement Inside Edition’s welcome page

Pilgrim joined from ABC News, where she most recently co-anchored GMA3: What You Need to Know and worked as a senior national correspondent. She called anchoring Inside Edition “truly a dream job” and said she had grown up watching the show with her mother. She also spoke about being able to spend more time with her young daughter while continuing to tell stories. CBS Media Ventures appointment announcement CBS Mornings interview and transcript
What Inside Edition’s format already covers
Inside Edition is a daily syndicated newsmagazine produced by Inside Edition Inc. and distributed by CBS Media Ventures. Its official description includes investigations, exclusive interviews with newsmakers, human-interest stories, celebrity coverage and pop culture. The program premiered on January 9, 1989, and began its 38th season on September 8, 2025. CBS Media Ventures program page
Mysteries and food could become areas of emphasis, but Pilgrim’s comments alone do not establish a broader overhaul or a before-and-after change in the show’s content. The best-supported distinction is between her stated interests and changes the program has actually implemented.

In its July 2025 appointment announcement, CBS Media Ventures reported approximately 9.42 million weekly viewers and 3.6 million daily viewers, as well as nearly 21 million social followers. These are company-reported figures from that announcement, not an independent audience audit. A later update to the official program page described the show as reaching approximately 10 million weekly viewers. The figures are separately reported and should not be combined into a single measurement. CBS Media Ventures appointment announcement CBS Media Ventures program page
