ESPN’s U.S. direct-to-consumer service launched on August 21, 2025. At launch, ESPN Unlimited cost $29.99 a month, while a first-year promotion offered Disney+, Hulu and ESPN Unlimited together for the same $29.99 monthly price. That bundle promotion has ended: ESPN’s current public price for it is $35.99 a month. The key distinction for shoppers is that ESPN Select is the lower-cost ESPN+ tier; ESPN Unlimited is the plan with ESPN’s broader network lineup.
What launched, and when?
ESPN announced its new direct-to-consumer service on August 6, 2025, and launched it in the United States on Thursday, August 21, 2025. The service arrived in an enhanced ESPN app ahead of the 2025 college-football season and the U.S. Open. ESPN branded the overall service simply ESPN; the full-service subscription is commonly called ESPN Unlimited. ESPN’s launch announcement describes the app and subscription.
This was more than a new name for ESPN+. It gave subscribers a way to stream ESPN’s broader network portfolio without a traditional pay-TV subscription, while retaining ESPN+ programming within the new plan structure. The launch announcement described 12 networks and services. ESPN’s current lineup is described differently and has evolved, so that launch-era count should not be read as a fixed current total.

Launch prices versus current prices
The launch offer made the same $29.99 figure mean two different things: the monthly price of ESPN Unlimited by itself, and the introductory price of a three-service bundle for its first 12 months.

Prices are U.S. prices shown on ESPN’s pages as of August 16, 2026. Taxes, eligibility, renewal terms and prices can vary or change. ESPN’s published offer terms say the $29.99 launch bundle promotion ended May 1, 2026; the current bundle page lists $35.99 a month. A targeted or regional offer may differ, so check the terms shown for your account before subscribing. The promotional price was not a permanent bundle rate, and introductory subscriptions can renew at the then-current price. ESPN’s offer terms and its current bundle page are the relevant references.
ESPN also lists an annual ESPN Unlimited plan at $299.99. That is less than 12 monthly payments of $29.99, but an annual subscription is a larger upfront commitment; review cancellation and renewal terms before choosing it.

Do not assume Select includes ESPN and ESPN2. It does not provide the full set of ESPN networks in Unlimited. Select programming can include college sports, NHL, soccer, tennis, golf, combat sports and ESPN Originals, but a subscriber seeking the broader network package or its live-event rights generally needs Unlimited. ESPN+ did not simply disappear or become the full ESPN service: its content continues through Select and is also included in Unlimited. ESPN Unlimited is intended to include ESPN’s traditional networks and services, such as ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, ESPN News, ESPN Deportes, SEC Network, ACC Network, ESPN on ABC where applicable, ESPN+, SEC Network+ and ACCNX. ESPN’s current materials also identify NFL Network among available services. The exact lineup and availability should be checked on the current plan page rather than inferred from the launch-era network count.

Programming spans sports such as the NFL, NBA, WNBA, NHL, MLB, college football and basketball, tennis, golf, soccer and WWE, alongside studio shows including SportsCenter, First Take and College GameDay, and ESPN Originals such as 30 for 30 and E60. That does not mean every event is available to every subscriber in every location. Rights, blackouts, local restrictions, schedules and device limitations can affect what plays. ESPN says subscriptions support simultaneous streaming on up to three devices for most content, not necessarily every program or circumstance. See ESPN’s plan and FAQ details.
Already have ESPN+ or pay TV?
Existing ESPN+ subscribers were moved into the ESPN Select structure and continued to receive ESPN+ content. That change did not automatically grant the ESPN Unlimited network package. If you subscribed to ESPN+ because you wanted ESPN+ programming, Select may be the relevant tier; if you expected ESPN, ESPN2 and the wider network slate, verify that your account has Unlimited.

Some pay-TV or provider plans may already include ESPN access or an ESPN Unlimited entitlement. ESPN identifies providers including Hulu + Live TV, DIRECTV, Fubo, Spectrum, Verizon FiOS, U-verse and Cox, but the qualifying package and entitlement can vary. Before paying for a separate subscription, check your provider’s plan and ESPN’s activation instructions, and sign in with the required MyDisney account. Changing or canceling an eligible provider plan may remove access. ESPN lists current details through its partner program.
Should you choose a bundle or another service?
- Choose ESPN Unlimited standalone if you want the ESPN network package and ESPN+ content, but do not need Disney+ or Hulu. Its current listed rate is $29.99 a month.
- Consider the Disney+, Hulu and ESPN Unlimited bundle at $35.99 a month if your household will use all three services. The launch price of $29.99 for the first year is no longer the standard public offer.
- Choose ESPN Select if ESPN+ content is enough. It costs less, but does not provide the full ESPN channel lineup.
- Compare live-TV services if you also need channels outside ESPN, such as Fox Sports, FS1 and FS2, Big Ten Network, local broadcast stations, regional sports networks, news or general entertainment. ESPN Unlimited can cover ESPN for some viewers, but it is not a complete cable replacement.
- Look at the NFL+ Premium bundle carefully if you want NFL-specific extras as well as ESPN. ESPN lists ESPN Unlimited with NFL+ Premium at $39.99 a month and the Disney+, Hulu, ESPN Unlimited and NFL+ Premium combination at $45.99. NFL+ viewing has separate device and local or primetime restrictions; check the NFL bundle terms before buying.
The best comparison is not just the headline price: check the channels and events you actually watch, whether another household member already pays for Disney+ or Hulu, whether your provider already supplies ESPN access, and whether your desired games are subject to restrictions.

Who is ESPN Unlimited for?
It is most useful to sports fans who want ESPN’s traditional networks without a full live-TV package, or ESPN+ subscribers who also need the network channels. It is a weaker fit for someone who only wants ESPN+ content, already receives qualifying ESPN access through a provider, needs sports networks ESPN does not carry, or interpreted the old bundle promotion as a lasting $29.99 price. Check the plan comparison, provider entitlement and renewal price before subscribing.
