What was reported about Erin Jayne Plummer’s death?
On 26 May 2022, PerthNow reported an account attributed to friends and originally reported by the Daily Mail; New Idea published a similar account that day. Both reports connected Plummer’s death to suicide and a struggle with her mental health. These are secondary media reports, not an official finding, and they do not establish a diagnosis, treatment history, or further circumstances. PerthNow’s 26 May report and New Idea’s report attribute the account to people close to her.
Why did early reports say the cause was unknown?
Reports on 23 May 2022 said Plummer had died suddenly at 42, while noting that the cause had not been made public at that time. The later reports, published three days afterward, conveyed information attributed to friends and loved ones. The difference reflects the timing and sourcing of the coverage rather than evidence that the early reports were necessarily wrong. PerthNow’s initial report and 7NEWS’s report covered the news before the later account appeared.
Who was Erin Jayne Plummer?
Plummer was known to Australian viewers as a Studio 10 presenter, including for the program’s daytime advertorials. New Idea reported that she presented Aerobics Oz Style for six years and appeared on MTV, Guest TV, TVSN, Totally Active TV, The Morning Show, and Channel 10 Sport’s Nutri-Grain Ironman Series. These career details were reported by media outlets rather than independently verified records in the sources cited here.

Her swimming career
New Idea reported that Plummer represented Australia at three world championships in synchronized swimming and won 11 national titles. Those figures are attributed to that report; they should not be treated as independently confirmed sporting records on the basis of the coverage cited here.
Family and colleagues’ tributes
Initial reports said Plummer was survived by her husband and three daughters. Studio 10 colleagues Sarah Harris and Angela Bishop remembered her on air. New Idea quoted Harris describing Plummer as a familiar face on Australian television for two decades and as someone who had brightened mornings with her personality and smile. Now To Love’s coverage also reported colleagues’ tributes.

New Idea quoted close friend Tori Haschka, speaking to the Daily Mail Australia, as saying, “I want to share her pain,” and, “She hated nothing more than being a burden.” Haschka also said, “I wish she knew it was a weight we were happy to help carry. I wish we had found her a way through.” These are friends’ reflections as reproduced by the publication; they do not establish details about Plummer’s diagnosis, care, or private circumstances.
