The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) released flight-log PDFs tied to United States v. Maxwell, but a person’s appearance in a log establishes only that the name was recorded there—not that the person committed a crime, knew about one, or visited Epstein’s island. To check a claimed name, use the underlying PDF and its page, and distinguish flight logs from other Epstein-related records.
Where to find the released flight logs
On February 27, 2025, the DOJ’s first-phase release listed six files under “B. Flight Log_Released in U.S. v. Maxwell.” The release lists a redacted contact book and a redacted masseuse list separately; those are not flight-log sections. The DOJ’s disclosures page brings together court records and other disclosure datasets. Its consolidated Court Records dataset includes files previously posted on the former Court Records page, with DOJ-added and pre-existing redactions.
The flight logs are court-record PDFs, not a DOJ-created, consolidated index of names. The primary document is linked as “B. Flight Log_Released in U.S. v. Maxwell.” A name in one of the separate records should not be described as appearing in the flight logs unless it is also verified in a flight-log PDF.
Why this page does not give an exhaustive name list
Establishing a complete list would require checking every page of the released PDFs, transcribing handwritten entries, and reconciling initials and spelling variants. The source documents and reporting identified here do not establish a complete, independently verified name-by-name index. A secondary compilation—or a search result repeating one—cannot fill that gap.

For example, PolitiFact’s February 1, 2024 review examined one viral list of 166 people described as connected to Epstein and confirmed visitors to his island. In the newly unsealed documents it reviewed, 129 of those names did not appear; 99 were not found in the flight logs it checked. Those figures describe that particular list and review. They are not a count of everyone in the logs or a verdict on other Epstein-related records.
How to check whether a name is in a flight log
- Start with the DOJ release. Open the February 27, 2025 release and select one of the files labeled “B. Flight Log_Released in U.S. v. Maxwell.” Do not substitute the separately listed contact book, masseuse list, or a court filing.
- Locate the entry in the PDF. Record the PDF part and page number. Check the document itself rather than relying on a cropped image, search snippet, or unsourced transcription.
- Verify what the entry says. Confirm the spelling as written and whether the person is identified as a passenger, pilot or crew member, or in some other capacity. If handwriting or initials make identification uncertain, say so rather than silently expanding or correcting the entry.
- Describe only what the record supports. A flight-log entry is evidence that the name was recorded in that document. Do not turn it into a claim about a destination, island visit, knowledge, or conduct unless a separate, cited source establishes that fact.
What a name in a log does—and does not—establish
A flight log is not a finding of guilt. Inclusion alone does not establish criminal conduct, knowledge of abuse, or participation in it. Nor should a person merely mentioned in another court record be described as a logged passenger. Keep the record and the claim separate: report the page and entry, then attribute any allegation, denial, charge, conviction, or court finding to the relevant source.

Epstein-related records contain people with different relationships to the case. In reporting on an unsealing order covering more than 150 people, the Associated Press described victims, witnesses, employees, and people with only passing connections. That range is a reason not to treat every name in a court document as having the same significance.

The DOJ says it redacted victim names and identifying information, alongside other material protected by law, regulation, or court order. It also warns that sensitive information may have remained inadvertently in posted material and asks the public to report it. The Associated Press reported that some identities—including people abused as children who sought privacy—remained confidential after unsealing.

Do not try to identify people behind redactions or repeat details that could expose a victim. A redaction is not an invitation to infer an identity; preserve the distinction between publicly verified information and material kept confidential.

How to assess a published name list
- Provenance: Does the list link to a DOJ or court PDF, or only to a secondary transcription or social-media post?
- Record type: Does it distinguish flight logs from contact books, masseuse lists, depositions, and other filings?
- Coverage: Does it identify which PDF parts and pages were checked, and support any claim that the list is complete?
- Transcription: Does each entry have a page reference, and does the list handle illegible handwriting, initials, and spelling variants transparently?
- Claim scope: Does it report a name as recorded, or inflate that fact into an allegation or conclusion?
- Privacy: Does it avoid identifying victims or disclosing information protected by a court order?
