In the United States, the Emma Stone films reported as streaming on Netflix in 2021 were The Amazing Spider-Man (2012) and The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (2014). A June 12, 2021 viewing guide listed both films on Netflix, but that is a historical snapshot—not proof that they were available every day of 2021, in every country, or in your current catalog. Streaming rights change by country and date.
Emma Stone movies reported on Netflix in 2021
| Film | Year | Stone’s role | Best viewing position |
|---|---|---|---|
| The Amazing Spider-Man | 2012 | Gwen Stacy | Watch first |
| The Amazing Spider-Man 2 | 2014 | Gwen Stacy | Watch second |
The two-title list comes from period coverage published in 2021, including a June 12, 2021 streaming guide. The evidence does not establish a complete worldwide Netflix catalog, so it is safer to call these the principal U.S. titles reported at that time rather than claim that every Emma Stone film on Netflix has been identified.

1. The Amazing Spider-Man (2012)
What it is about
Marc Webb’s superhero film follows Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield) as he investigates the mystery surrounding his parents, is bitten by a genetically altered spider and becomes Spider-Man. Stone plays Gwen Stacy, Peter’s classmate and love interest.
Why Emma Stone fans should watch it
Gwen is more than a brief supporting appearance. Her relationship with Peter supplies the film’s emotional center, giving the origin story a grounded romance alongside its action and science-fiction elements. The film also introduces the characters and stakes that the sequel assumes you already know.
#1 Best Overall
For a first-time viewer, this is the accessible starting point: it establishes Peter, Gwen and their shared history before the franchise expands its villains and conflicts.
2. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (2014)
What changes in the sequel
Stone reprises Gwen as Peter’s relationship becomes more complicated while he faces new threats, including Electro, and Peter’s life becomes entangled with Harry Osborn. Gwen remains central to the personal consequences of Peter’s double life.
Why it belongs second
The sequel builds directly on the first film’s romance, character histories and unresolved conflicts. Watching it first removes much of the intended emotional context, so follow the release order: The Amazing Spider-Man, then The Amazing Spider-Man 2.
Were Cruella, La La Land or Easy A on Netflix?
Cruella (2021)
Do not classify Cruella as a Netflix film. Contemporary 2021 listings identified theatrical release and Disney+ viewing, not Netflix: Movie Insider’s 2021 listings document those options.

Other popular Stone films
La La Land, Easy A, Superbad, Zombieland, The Help, Birdman, Battle of the Sexes and The Favourite appeared in streaming guides that mixed Netflix with Amazon, Hulu and other services. Without a dated, country-specific listing, they should not be labeled Netflix titles for 2021. Check your country’s current catalog or a title-by-title rental listing instead.
A modern index such as FlickMetrix’s Emma Stone Netflix page can show present-day filtering, but it cannot by itself reconstruct the U.S. catalog from 2021. A title listed there now may have arrived after 2021—or may leave before you search.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Which Emma Stone Netflix movie should you watch first?
Start with The Amazing Spider-Man. It gives Stone a substantial, emotionally important role, works for viewers who are new to this version of Spider-Man and leads naturally into the sequel. Continue with The Amazing Spider-Man 2 if you want the complete Peter-and-Gwen storyline.
That is a viewing recommendation, not a claim that either film is objectively Stone’s best movie. Netflix inclusion reflects licensing, while quality depends on your taste for superhero action, romance and franchise storytelling.
Why Netflix availability varies
“On Netflix” means included in the Netflix subscription catalog for a particular country and date—not merely available to rent or buy elsewhere. Availability can differ because of:
- territorial licensing agreements;
- the exact date you search;
- catalog changes and expiration dates; and
- profile or parental-control settings.
Therefore, a 2021 U.S. report cannot guarantee access in another country or in 2026. If you are checking today, search Netflix directly at Netflix.com; if a title is absent, compare legitimate rental or purchase services rather than treating a historical listing as current availability.
