The couple named their daughter Isla Sue Gambin. In the Instagram announcement caption reproduced by PerthNow on 14 August 2024, Davies wrote: “13/08/24 – 6:07pm. Isla Sue Gambin 🤍 I’ve never felt a love like this. We did it 🥺 @joelgambin”.
When was Isla born?
The caption reproduced in the report states that Isla was born at 6:07 pm on 13 August 2024. PerthNow published its announcement story on 14 August.
Why is her middle name Sue?
PerthNow reported that Sue honors Davies’ mother, who died in 2016. Davies brought a photograph of her mother to the hospital, describing it as a way to have her by her side during the birth.

The newspaper also reproduced Davies’ reflections on becoming a mother without her own mother. “I wished I could have asked her what I was supposed to do to prepare for this little human,” Davies wrote. She added, “Though she’s gone it feels like you now know her in a completely different way.” In another passage, she described unconditional love as the greatest gift her mother gave her, saying she knew she could give that love to her daughter.
How the announcement followed the pregnancy news
PerthNow reported that Davies and Gambin announced the pregnancy on Instagram on 14 February 2024. In a later report published on 15 July, the newspaper said they were expecting their first child in August. The birth-caption date, 13 August, fell within that expected month.
