That official description sets up the central mystery and the episode’s holiday subplot, but it does not establish how Dirk dies, what evidence Elsbeth follows, or how the case is resolved. Those details should not be inferred from the fact that Elsbeth suspects DeeDee.
Why is the title sometimes given as “It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Murder”?
“It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Murder” is not the title CBS lists for this installment. CBS’s Season 2 episode guide identifies Episode 6 as “Gold, Frankincense, and Murder.” Readers looking for the Christmas-themed episode with the Dashers should use the official title to find the correct listing.

Who is the holiday surprise?
The surprise is Elsbeth’s son, Teddy Tascioni, played by Ben Levi Ross. The CBS synopsis mentions a holiday surprise arranged through Wagner and Kaya without naming Teddy; TV Insider reports that Kaya helped Captain Wagner arrange it so Elsbeth would not be alone for Christmas.
